Siena Fallon Joins CBLDF as Community Development Manager

Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, the industry's voice for free speech advocacy and education, is excited to welcome Siena Fallon as the organization's Community Development Manager. Fallon will work with the CBLDF staff in developing the organization's fundraising programs as well as their outreach to the comics community.

“I've been proud to support the CBLDF and its mission throughout my time as a comic book retailer,” said Fallon. “With increasing attacks on a diverse array of stories, the Fund's work in protecting the rights of free expression for all voices is more important than ever. I am honored to work with the team at the CBLDF as well as the larger comics community to continue moving the Fund's essential work forward.”

Siena has served their community as a comic book retailer for the past 8 years, starting at the award-winning Chapel Hill Comics to most recently serving as the Operations Manager of Ultimate Comics, one of the largest brick and mortar comic book specialty chains in the nation. In 2018 they joined the NCComicon team as Director of Media and Communications, working alongside owner Alan Gill to bring creator-focused events to the community of comic fans in North Carolina.

Coming to the CBLDF with a passion for the medium and industry, Siena also brings with them a drive to ensure accessibility to comics for all. As Community Development Manager, they will use their extensive comics retail and event planning background to engage the community with the CBLDF's mission and build coalitions that work together to defend free expression. They will continue to build upon CBLDF's important work in creating resources and providing support for the Fund's community partners.

“Siena is an extraordinary addition to the CBLDF team,” says Executive Director Charles Brownstein. “Their knowledge of the comics community is matched by a keen understanding of how the stories the medium tells can change lives for the better. We're excited to include their energy in the service of the creators, readers, educators, and professionals who count on CBLDF's valuable work.”

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund provides legal and educational resources to protect the First Amendment rights of the comics field and serve its community. In the past year, CBLDF has developed a robust response to the resurgence of identity censorship cases, providing support to creators and protecting diverse graphic novels like Fun Home. CBLDF provides legal support to retailers, educators, and creators in protecting their fundamental right to free expression. The organization's resources support the understanding and protection of First Amendment rights, including free legal aid and advice on issues related to the comics medium and an ongoing education program that includes publications, webinars, and events. The CBLDF continues to develop resources and tools to better serve all members of the comic community, from educators and librarians to retailers and cartoonists.
