Odencat Games celebrates recent gaming award win with a Steam bundle and a live mini concert!

TOKYO, JAPAN: May 26th, 2023 - Japanese indie developer Odencat Inc. announced today that their recent release, Meg's Monster, has been the recipient of Dengeki Indie Grand Prize this year. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the developer has announced a new Steam bundle and collaboration with fellow indie title Rakuen, as well as a mini concert with Laura Shigihara, creator of Rakuen as well as the vocalist for the theme song of Meg's Monster.

Meg's Monster wins Dengeki Indie Grand Prize 2023

Meg's Monster is the proud recipient of the Dengeki Indie Grand Prize award for this year. The fan-voted contest brought in thousands of votes, with Meg's Monster coming out on top. It has also won the award for “The game you would want to wipe your memory of, so you could play it again!”

“Winning first place in the Dengeki grand prize category was completely unexpected, and I was very surprised!” Said Odencat CEO and founder Daigo Sato. “I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who supported us. Here at Odencat, we are simply creating the games we want to make, and we ourselves were the most excited to see what kind of story Meg's Monster would become. We are honored that it was enjoyed by so many people.

In games, the story is shaped by the players, and the joy and sadness of the characters are directly conveyed to the players. We earnestly hope to bring to life as many important stories from within our hearts as possible. We will continue to do our best, so please continue to support us!”

Meg's Monster x Rakuen Bundle

To celebrate the Dengeki Indie Grand Prize award, Odencat Inc. has announced its collaboration with fellow indie game Rakuen with a Steam bundle. Both “overwhelmingly positive” rated titles are now available in one discounted bundle, with an additional discount also available for those who already have either game in their library.

Special concert from Laura Shigihara

Finally, we are proud to announce a live mini concert from Meg's Monster theme song vocalist Laura Shigihara. Involved in many critically acclaimed works such as Plants Vs. Zombies and Deltarune, she will be livestreaming a performance of Wishing Star today soon on Twitch. In addition, she recently interviewed Odencat founder Daigo Sato for AAPI heritage month, which can be seen here.
