Shunsui was once the captain of Squad 8, but succeeded Genryusai Yamamoto to become head captain of the 13 Court Guard Squads. While outwardly nonchalant, he is deeply thoughtful, calmly reads the tide of battle, and at times makes ruthless decisions.
