Solo idol Baek Nokha sees her world crumble the day her mother dies while she's busy accepting an award. So, when a strange creature offers her a second chance, she accepts readily. But she never imagined she'd have to restart from the bottom as Yoon Chung, a trainee in an idol competition show! To see her mother again, she has to grant Chung's wish of debuting in first place. Armed with nothing but her voice and her knowledge of the industry, can this superstar climb her way back to the top?

A Doomed Girl Group's Do-Over has story by JEOKSONG with art by Juwon and AURORA Studio, based on a work by Haegang. Localized by Kakao Entertainment. Published by Tapas Entertainment (December 18, 2025). Rated YA.

You know that moment in shows where the bad guy says something like, “Yes, that's the look I want to see.” Well, Doomed Girl Group's Do-Over made me say that. Out loud.

Baek Nokha is a star. She's beautiful, talented, and has worked incredibly hard to get to the top. Now she is starting at the very bottom, in a body with a good voice, but no stage presence, no dance skills, and no allies. The guy producing the television show featuring this doomed idol group is known for being an antagonistic video editor. In this moment, Baek, as Chung, acknowledges that only an idiot would fight. With fire in her eyes, she smiles and thinks, “Too bad I'm an idiot.” This was such good storytelling! Instantly, we are on her side to save this group from sabotage and scandal.

At this point, I was all in. I wanted Baek Nokha/ Yoon Chung to save this group from itself. I found myself scrolling down chapter after chapter, and although I know this comic isn't complete, I'm interested in how it will end. Getting me interested in a comic about an idol group reality show deserves praise.

The art is a major player in the energy in this comic. The cuts when Yoon Chung performed in front of fans for the first time were amazing. You could practically feel the beat of the music and hear the fans holding their breath.

I'd actually recommend this series for folks who like puzzle/building isekai and even folks who like deep-strategy action stories. Chung has got some serious tactical chops, and the industry-insider knowledge scratches the same itch as “rebuild an economy” stories. Overall, I'd definitely suggest giving Doomed Girl Group's Do-Over a try, no matter what your style of comics typically is. It might surprise you.
