The Tale of a Little Alchemist's Blessed Life
What's It About?

Daisy's new life is already a world apart from the last. Once cast out for a "worthless" job and left to die alone, she's now the cherished daughter of a viscount--with a rare skill, a loving family, and a future that's finally hers to shape. Sure, she's been saddled with the "undesirable" job of Alchemist again, but things couldn't be more different this time. With her Appraisal ability, the blessing of the spirits, and brand-new alchemy tools at her side, Daisy is ready to turn her second chance into something truly magical.
Before long, she's brewing potions for kingdoms, gathering rare materials with ease, and still finding time to bake fresh bread.
This time, the overpowered alchemist is going to make sure her future shines bright!

There's escapism, and then there is escapism. The title of this light novel is not lying—everything here works out so well that I commented to my wife that Daisy might as well have been given Serendipity magic. Her life is blessed indeed. A loving and supportive family, servants who are kind and competent, and every assistance she could ever want or even imagine present themselves exactly at the moment they are needed.
It was great. I'm not kidding. I write this review on a day that is objectively awful on a global scale. I don't want to read something about war, conflict, or fighting. I don't want my protagonist struggling their way to a bloody triumph. I absolutely do want a story about a little kid making potions and also using alchemy to bake. This last is not even far from the truth. Cooking is as much an art as a science, but baking, that's alchemy.
We have a great interest in alchemy in my household, as it happens—both the magical chemistry kind and the baking kind. Daisy isn't transmuting lead to gold, so the way her experiments run is more than fraught, with her snarky Appraisal skill providing most of the humor.
Because Daisy is a little girl, a whopping 9 years old as the volume ends, the story has a full complement of cute fluffy things: Fairies in her garden, a beastkin maid, a Fenrir wolf who masquerades as a puppy, and delicious breads and pastries. It's all very warm and fuzzy until Daisy gets involved with politics at the kingdom level. Normal trials, like fighting monsters and men, are nothing to this prodigy.
If you need a break from reality—and who could blame you—The Tale of a Little Alchemist's Blessed Life, Volume 1 will be just the break you need.
