The Encyclopedia, and a couple other online sources have the director of The Daichis as "Tetsu Kimura", however according to Geneon, and our December 2000 news article, the director is Satoshi Kimura
Is there any chance that these two might be the same person? |

His name in kanji is 木村 哲. The problem is, his given name 哲 can be spelled either as Tetsu or Satoshi, and I can't find a reliable source for the correct furigana. On the other hand, a famous Japanese MD with the same kanji name has the furigana spelled as "Satoshi Kimura."
EDIT: Okay, I did some search on him. His official page did not state the correct furigana of his given name, but if I use Google with following combinations: 木村哲 キムラテツ 6 of 9 pages are him (5 are from movie.goo.ne.jp), including 天地無用！ 真夏のイヴ (Tenchi Muyo Movie 2: Daughter of Darkness) and Hamtaro the Movie. 木村哲 きむらてつ 1 of 4 pages is him: Tenchi Muyo Movie 2 again. Other three are unrelated people. 木村哲 キムラサトシ 17 of 19 is a MD, the other two are a college boy and a funeral manager. 木村哲 きむらさとし All 6 are the same MD. User kozy2003 also reported that his searches on cdjapan and Yahoo! Japan gave him positive results using "Tetsu Kimura" but not when using "Satoshi Kimura." It looks like (although not solid enough) that Tetsu Kimura is the correct name. |
