Hey all,
Could someone help me out with a question? Is gunslinger girl an on-going series or is there a box set that I can get that has all the episodes? Matt |

Gunslinger Girls has only 13 episodes of which the series ended a few years back. I haven't heard any news of FUNi releasing the complete boxset of the series yet, but you can buy each of the 3 volume DVD singles.

I'm sure there will be something down the road, but instead of buying all singles, you can buy DVD 1 + Artbox, and fill that up instead. |

The third volume was released back in September of this year. FUNimation won't release a complete collection until at least two years from now.

The FUNimation rep talked about this on AoD, he said on average, it is 1 to 2 years before they release a complete collection.

Yes, the GSG artbox is one of the better ones available and the wall tapestry it comes with is worth the marginal extra cost and just about as good as any commercial wall scroll.

I didn't get the box because I don't think boxes should be included with the first DVD but rather the last because I don't want to buy a "DVD 1 + Artbox" and end up with a crappy series I don't want to complete. Damn you Saiyuki.
I think it willbe sooner than 2 years because there has been a recent trend of Boxsets being released. The Peacemaker Box Set came out about 2 months after the final volume was released. But complete box sets don't come with those extra goodies and if you like Gunslinger Girl that much, you don't wanna miss out on the tapestry. Plus it's only 3 volumes for a 13 episode series. Most of the time we have to buy 4 DVDs for a 13 episode series, Elfen Lied, Hellsing, Soul Taker, Kino's Journey. Think of it as a gift. |

Yeps, and the cloth-like poster is actually fairly large. I really enjoy the what the little extra in it was.

FUNimation isn't ADV, and Lhaskil (the FUNimation rep) likes to take jabs at ADV for doing what they do. So expect a full boxset about 1 year or so from now. |

I can't speak for other companies, but FUNimation series box sets will be slower to release. The 2 year mark is a ballpark figure. It could be a few months more or a few months less. Lance Heiskell FUNimation Guy |

I know FUNimation isn´t ADV but then again GENEON isn´t either and they have been releasing box sets a lot sooner than they used to. Gungrave, Ikki Tousen, Paranoia Agent box sets have came out a couple of months after their final volume was released and they´ve also been getting into the whole thinpack thing so you never know if FUNimation might jump on the bandwagon as well. Mediablasters has been doing as well before the Samurai Deeper Kyo Economy box was released, a couple of months after volume 7 was released they released the whole SDK series in the wooden box. I still think it´s a possibility we might see it sooner than 1 year IF a box set for this series is ever released. |
