Okay Gene, you can knock it off. I stopped caring a long time ago.
And I'm just now discovering Hasbro owns The Hub, makes perfect sense. |

The article said that it was being made for The Hub here in the U.S.. As a result, the real question is: is this even an anime? Hello Kitty may be a Japanese creation, but that doesn't necessarily mean that this show will be an anime production.*
Additionally, it sounds to me like this may or may not be a misguided attempt to appeal to both boys (KISS) and girls (Hello Kitty) with this one (as someone had previously pointed out, one must not forget what KISS is all about as a rock band...), in which case this show may or may not even be a (if even partially) disguised social commentary on female-oriented franchises (or it may unintentionally come off as one; either way, it's still possible), which I don't think would be right for Hello Kitty (or any other girl-oriented franchise for that matter), if anything. I guess we'll see how this turns out, but I have to say, I personally think this is a really BAD idea. There was once a marketing campaign for Showtime (the premium cable TV network) that prided the network on "taking risks". IMHO, there are some risks worth taking, and others that aren't, and I honestly think this planned crossover is the latter kind of risk. This isn't "Super Mario Bros. and RPGs", or "Disney and Square^" we're talking about. KISS as a rock band and Hello Kitty as a franchise are both extremely and significantly different from each other. Also, I have to ask. I know they don't in "Rock and Roll All Nite", but KISS doesn't swear in any of their other songs, do they?... *If it turns out that it isn't an anime, it wouldn't be the first time that Hello Kitty had starred in a non-anime. She had previously appeared in "Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater", which was made by DIC, and aired on CBS in 1987. |

@zeo1fan:
I wasn't talking about Hello Kitty in general. I'm fully aware that there has been previous Japanese-produced Hello Kitty anime. I was only talking about THIS show, and was asking if it would even be an anime (i.e.: or if it would be an American production like Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater). |

So there's the spit anime, the anthropomorphic guns anime, the Steve Jobs manga, the Jesus-and-Buddha-in-Japan manga, the My Little Pony manga and still they manage to pull something that defies the limit of absurdity and surprise everyone? Well done, Japan.
ETA: Forgot to mention the bacteria anime and the upcoming blood-types anime |

This would work as a five minute anime on Adult Swim if they go for the absurd with it, which it seems they must be doing since that's the only word for the whole concept.
(... I really hope we never have to see a Hello Kitty version of this.) |
