Is it a problem asking for different opinions on a forum?

I recently asked the forum for some help finding anime that I like. I had read previous enties on finding enjoyable (in my opinion) animation, but found that really didn't help either. The lists are huge and I value the opinions of other forum members.
In a previous posting I was given loads of fantasic ideas and hugely appreciated it. However this time my entry was locked because there are other resources in finding anime but as stated above they weren't useful to me.
I would say that I am not forcing anyone to give their opinion only that I value those given to me.
I ask that forum members continue sharing what they like and dislike and that forum leaders are patient with those like me.

I will say that I agree with one point that was made in my post, that just giving an series title doesn't help, your opinion is the valuable part.

Thank you in advance; all views are welcome, but please don't lock me. Embarassed

Hi, my post was locked because I asked for anime recommendations and I think that because some members only put a series title and no explaination; it was classed as spamming.

There were a few problems with your post.

Hi Guys, after some really good suggestion from the forum, I have avidly been watching anime for months. But I've run out and I haven't been doing very well on my own and really could do with some more help.

Here's what I've seen, starting with what I've enjoyed best, then sliding down, so you get an idea of my taste.

Inuyasha
Bleach
Rurouni Kenshin
fullmetal alchemist
Chrono Crusade
Black Cat
Berserk

Thank You in advance, any suggestions welcome.

That's called listing, and it's not allowed in this forum. You have to ask for recommendations by giving a clear description of what kind of anime you like and why you liked it. For a better explanation, I suggest you check This thread (Also note that NO recommendations are allowed at this time, dated 10/8/06).

If the replies in your thread weren't helpful, then I suggest you use the search button. I'm sure others have started a thread in the past where they're asking for titles very similar to what you're asking (though what you asked was way too vague).

I think I understand, in my first post for help, I said what shows I liked and why I liked them, in my next post I just listed what I had seen in preference without giving any explanation. Much the same as those that replied to me. In a sense without the explanation it isn't useful to anyone else who is having the same problem.

So perhaps bearing in mind the list above and the fact I enjoy deep story lines, with shounen/supernatural, plenty of good fighting, a hero with a group of comraides, clean/sharp animation. Any suggestions please. Many thanks Wink

Even as soon as a month ago, ANN's Anime forum was almost nothing but recommendation threads. On any given day, they could easily make up more than half of the active threads. And because they're really only relevant to the thread starter, and don't really do a whole lot to initiate discussion, and quite frankly got very redundant, we've decided to institute an indefinite suspension on recommendation threads as a whole.

ANN has numerous other threads (including a few at the top of the Anime forum) that you can use to help you find stuff on your own. Sorry, but personal recommendation threads for the time being are simply not allowed. Locked.
