Sorry if this has been mentioned already, I tried searching the forum first but didn't get any hits. Been wanting to post about this for a while now, but without the image it seemed moot, but finding the episode ("Merry Christmas") on torrent I was finally able to get a screen cap.
See for yourself:
It's pretty obvious that this isn't just a coincidence, that's quite clearly supposed to be Moegi, Konohamaru, and Udon, all the way down to the sandals, goggles, and even a Leaf village symbol on the middle kids shirt. Even the old man has a slight resemblance to the Third Hokage.
I'm going to call it a tribute only because it is so blatant with very few changes. Plus Ben 10 is far from being anime influenced so the chances of them riping-off the characters doesn't seem that likely to me. Plus I give the people who created Ben 10 a lot of creative credit and don't feel that they simply stole the character designs, but rather simply wanted to give homage to a fellow kids show.

Nice catch. It does actually look alot like them, the headgear, glasses, and all. And is that grandpa supposed to be the third Hokage?

Lol, I saw that too, I thoguht it was hilarious. I can't imagine there was any malice thee, I mean how hard would it be to design three throw-away children? It had to just be a nudge and wink to a show someone involved in the show enjoys.

Could just be one of the animators making a references. A lot of animators like to sneak things into the show.

Considering it seems like it is just a scene in this Ben 10 show, it was probably just a passing thing done for the fun of it, no malice intended. I am rather amused though -- as I always am when animation or TV shows give a little nudge towards an animé or movie in some way or another.

Hmm, I dunno, I don't think Moegi is sexy enough to pass.

You can't really tie it down. People will call it homage if they like it, a rip-off if they don't.

I've seen the creators of the simpsons reference alot of their shows, like family guy, the show with the boozy robot, american dad, and a slew of others, the other shows tend to do the same, like in knd, one of the students in the school kinda looks like ash ketchem from pokemon (all of the cast members of the seires go to the same school, it's obvious.)
and since cartoon network keeps on referencing their shows, especially their old ones, we all should keep an eye on their tricks, from classic "cartoon-cartoon" references, to "toonami/adult-swim"/"not realting to CNN, TimeWarner, AOL LLC., and other TW-owned companies at all".

Calling it a rip-off is kind of...well...stupid. It's no where big enough to be a rip-off. It's not like they incorporated key plot points without any type of recognition. They just drew some throw-away characters akin to those kids from Naruto. It's just an homage/easter egg type thing.

Heh, yeah, I caught that when I stumbled across the second half of that episode. I was all "Heeey... wait a minute..." when it happened. Then I wondered if anyone else would notice it.

YES THANK YOU YOU FOUND IT!
i was racking my brain today thinking what american animeish show i seen did a naruto homage using those characters. i was thinking maybe kappa mikey since it does on a normal basis
i say its a homage to a fave anime by a fan that works on ben10 or its creator. and not a bad one i might add
