Surprised Nozomi Entertainment hasn't done a remaster for City Hunter, another super-eighties show based off a manga by the same dude who wrote Cat's Eye. I think it would fit in rather well with the rest of their oldies selection.

Looking forward to giving this series a try

Definitely going to get this at some point, as I'm a fan of 80s Jump and Tsukasa Hojo. Also, didn't know that Toshiko Fujita (better known by myself as Mamiya from Fist of the North Star) was on this show, very cool.

P.S. Second that City Hunter re-release. >_>

The review pretty much echoes what else I've read about the series online. It seems like one of those series that's worth watching once. I'll check it out at some point.

gedata: They got whatever print TMS supplied them with.

The show also includes a character named Lupin's Bride, a clear reference to Monkey Punch's earlier thief, and the gentleman thief Slim Suspense who shows up in a later episode may also be a reference to the smooth-talking Lupin III.

Well, Hojo did tell me he's a fan of MP. Wink

As you might be able to tell, logic does not play a large role in this show.

Apparently not. If/when they find their father, is he like 80? Or did he amass this fabulous art collection when he was 10? Smile

Sounds like a fun way to kill some time though. Nice review.

I'm so happy this series was finally released. I'm looking forward to the second season already (which I have preordered) aside from spoiler[the fact that it advances the plot in no way whatsoever and the animation is slightly different]

I really do wish Rui got more screentime. She's my favorite, and...~that voice~ *faints*

There are several grammatical errors in the translation that I noticed, similarly to Rose of Versailles, but they are extremely minor in retrospect and shouldn't distill the viewing experience in any way.

It's mentioned that he started amassing a collection of paintings when he was about 10. spoiler[They do not find their father in either the anime or manga version. He gets forced into exile and a man impersonates him. Cat's Eye later disbands.]

If that was intentional, well-played.

If it was not, then... still well-played.

wonder: Actually, it was released seven years ago by ImaginAsian. It's the second season which has not made it to DVD here until this year.

"Cat's Eye" sounds like an interesting anime. Too bad it wasn't dubbed into English. Well,"Gundam" and some older anime have an English dub. I'm not sure if it will be dubbed into English. Maybe if it's popular enough,it'll get that dub.
