I dont about the rest but i feel this news is kind of spoilerish.
This is because of the characters involved in it. the trailer preview is suggesting both the white chaikas and red chaikas group having fun together as well as Vivi is with them. this means that these are both set after the main story and that all of the group will be together and this has not been shown in the main series yet. so it does kind of spoil the story a bit just to let people know.
so these 2 stories are epilouge/Swim suit Episode looking forward to it.

I don't think it's that spoilerish bevause plenty of OVAs have contruved reasons for the cast to get together when they normally wouldn't. So I wouldn't say it's a spoiler right off the bat. I feel like this will take place between two of the episodes this season as opposed to being an epilogue. Most likely just a fanservice story that night not exactly fit into the canon.
Anyway, considering that Chaika is my life currently, I'm excited for this! I misread the news and thought that it was two episodes at first. Still ready for it! Just watching the cast interact is fun enough!

Blatant fanservice and pandering episode, meant only as eye candy for those whole love the Chaikas.
And you know what? I'm more then OK with it.
Bring on the blatant pandering. he more, the merrier.

Too bad it's too late for them; the LNs have many, many very erotic pandering that the series just cut out.
The sales are horrible maybe partially thanks to that fact. This is coming too late to get the interest up in the series, sadly.

It's good that the erotic pandering was cut out in the anime adaptation, I'm not completely against ecchi, but it doesn't feel right in Hitsugi no Chaika's setting in regular amounts. The horrible sales kinda suck; the anime was doing its job in getting me interested in the light novels, but if there's that much erotic pandering, I guess it can't be helped that the sales are what they are.

I can agree with this as it relates to Hitsugi no Chaika. I've read the first two novels and I didn't really notice that much more erotic pandering than in the show, which isn't saying much since the show has so little. Akari makes some jokes about wanting to have sex with Toru that are a bit beyond what happens in the anime, but nothing that goes over board. Although later volumes of the light novel have illustrations that might be considered more pandering, but since they were never translated, its hard for me to know exactly what the say.
I don't know how much adding more pandering would help sell the anime though. It might have helped the sales a bit, but I like the fact that the fanservice is rather low in the series.
With that said though, I am not opposed to this episode, in fact like every episode in the franchise I'm looking forward to it. I expect lots of cute moments!

Kind of disappointed in this. Only because I've been going with the assumption that Avenging Battle was cut down to 10 episodes, so was thinking that this OVA would be the end of the series.

Outside of a chapter in volume 3 and an illustration in volume 9, I have no idea why there's this conception of the series as some kind of fan-service oriented harem adventure when it clearly isn't.
This episode seems pointless to me, very blatant attempt to cash in on the appeal of the character designs to a specific audience. A more serious production would have focused more on Gaz's backstory and how he attained his position but that wouldn't have been of any interest to all but the more hardcore fans.

I assume that has happened in the novels? Personally, I was thinking this OVA would have something to do with the overall story, and my head went with the ending. But, having it being something to flesh out the backstory would've also been welcomed.

Gaz's backstory occupies 1/3rd of the latest published volume, so yeah it would have been nice to see that rather than a pandering episode.

Agreed, what a waste of an OVA. Oh well....
