According to the kickstarter update they put out, SRL was engaging in paid reviews of the game as it was presently released on steam.
Though as I've seen some people speculate, that was likely just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I liked that Sekai Project canceled this project rather then deal with developers that engage in activity that is frowned upon.
I did not back WAS -The Hourglass of Lepidoptera but I did back Clannad. I wonder if SRL can be sued.

A bit of a sad tale that this campaign for this visual novel had to be shut down, but Sekai made the right call severing ties with SRL to avoid being associated with their questionable business practices.
