Seems like a good way for the fan translations to get some credit.

Seems like a better way for the manga company to get free translators. It sounds a little suspicious to me. It also seems really disrespectful to professional translators. They're basically saying "well we think that fans can do this just as well as a professional, and we won't have to pay anyone (I mean is 50% royalty really anything?) to do it." As someone who respects the art of translation it seems like a step in the wrong direction.
