Well, I for one think it's great that the origin story is getting a reboot. I was trying to get someone into Detective Conan through the material on Netflix, and they balked at all of the continuity the first available episode expected them to understand.

^ This. Holy crap. Trying to get anyone into Detective Conan is a nightmare at the moment. The series is spread out over three different legal options and there's a massive gap of content missing even between all three sources. I ended up having to pirate the series just so I could show the series to people who expressed interest since there's literally no other coherent (legal) way to watch it at the moment. Poor Conan deserves better than this.
