I loved episode 1 of season 2, but I feel episode 2 & 3 haven't been as good. The best stories are usually the ones that have an entire episode to them.

^ I rather enjoyed the second and third episodes, personally. I mean, Totty RIPPED OFF HIS NIPPLES. Laughed so hard. Seeing how the brothers are on the inside (literally) was hilarious too. And then in the third episode... Genshimatsu san.... Is it even OK to air that kind of stuff? LOL!

This second season definitely looks to be pushing boundaries. Maybe it doesn't work for everyone, but I personally love this kind of comedy.

Well, they say every discovery and invention is inevitably used for sex or war or both. Smile

I don't know why I like this show, but I do. I'm not too fond of Totoko and Iyami, but otherwise it's horrible fun. I'm about 2/3 of the way to being able to tell them apart now. I mean, I can tell the characters apart, but I can't name more than 4 at a time. Maybe another season, and I'll have 'em down pat.

I bet the seiyuu had fun doing the Cavematsus' "dialog."

All things considered, I shouldn't enjoy this show nearly as much as I do. When I recently wrote about favorite and least favorite anime comedies, I emphasized how truly mean and off-putting jokes at other people's expense were one reason for my wariness of comedy. And yet here I am, watching, loving, and reviewing an anime about mischievous, petty, selfish sextuplet manchildren NEETs being lazy, gross, and mean to each other.

That's why i was really (but not umpleasantly) surprised that you picked this show! Smile
But i agree, there hardly seems to be a genre more polarizing than comedy where one person's "grossly mean-spirited" is another person's "hilariously funny"...and i think part of Osomatsu-san's genius is that it effortlessly manages to be both and makes it work!

I loved the first ep. almost as much as i loved that - now sadly unavailable - s1 premiere and the following eps. didn't disappoint either. I especially enjoyed the "stripped down to their innards" part and Ichimatsu's and i bet Choromatsu's awkward time together was at least partly relatable to everyone who was ever suddenly alone with somebody they usually only meet in a group...

This is definitely gonna be one of my most anticipated shows of the week.

Really enjoying the second season so far, and I'm glad they've stuck to telling two stories per episode. When it came to the first season, the episodes that featured one or two segments tended to leave more of an impression than the ones that threw a deluge of skits at the audience.

The preview for episode four has me excited. I like the idea of a story built around Matsuyo and Matsuzou, seeing as they're the only major characters who have yet to receive any time in the spolight. (Heck, even Dayon and Dekapan got their own episode.)

Anyone else get the sense that this season relies on more cringey moments than last season?

Ep 4: I enjoyed this episode, and was agreeing with the boys. Dad takes mom for granted and the spark is gone. Legitimate problem, common situation. All you have to do is advise your father to...
...Buy porn?!?
Was anyone else practically yelling at the screen: "Just tell him to take her on a date! Buy her gifts! Or better yet, take her on a vacation! That woman deserves a break and to feel like she's appreciated! It will help!"
But no, the Masunos decide to teach dad to buy porn, and if all else (what else?) fails, drug the lady.

...It's no wonder these guys can't get a date!

The ending was cute, though! Look at how adorable the sextuplets were as babies, when they still had potential! Razz

It is nice to see an episode about their parents, and the death march to the flowers was hilarious.

You already said it but if they knew how to do that they wouldn't be virgin NEETS Laughing

The really cringy part for me was the end, I wanted Matsuyo and Matsuzou to at least hold hands or be closer to each other (not just sitting side by side), or try to clear the misunderstanding.

It seemed to me that the problem was not there to begin with and Matsuzou was imagining things.

Agreed. For me, this bit was the highlight of what's shaping up to be a very strong season. I also thought the exchange between Ichimatsu and Choromatsu in the hot air balloon was a fun callback to the previous episode.

I've gotten the same impression from the episodes that have aired thus far. While season one had no shortage of cringe-worthy moments, there seems to be more of a concerted effort to lean into the cringiness this time around.

When I saw this gif, I immediately thought of Osomatsu, especially with the chain of 6 near the end. Very Happy

I had to pause the episode because i couldn't stop giggling maniacally for several minutes straight. Laughing

And while i agree that the show is usually as his best when it's split in two parts, an ep. with a couple of shorter skits doesn't really hurt now and then.

I think the only riff on cicadas that I've enjoyed more than the Matsucadas was Kenshin and Sanosuke pretending to be cicadas in Rurouni Kenshin (surprisingly, the English version is best).

And Summer Kamen was outstanding.

^Yeah, I saw that. I always like those bits of continuity and surprising subtlety underneath all that crazy. They also referenced Jyushimatsu’s almost-girlfriend this episode too.

Is it me or does it seem like Karamatsu’s being treated better this season? He hasn’t been ignored or spoken over, and the others thank and even respect him in a weird way. It looks like they’ve dropped that gag this season, which I’m very glad about; that’s the type of joke that would get really old, really fast, so it’s good that they cut it off before it got to that point.

Well, his parents did cut him off (and his nipples) in the second episode. Laughing
