Square-Enix is part of Jump Fiesta, though. Mashima is just who they picked for the mangaka, even if he's not Shueisha, There's no regulation that only Shueisha-associated mangaka can be hired by these companies.
Personally I find it a bit fitting. Camus always did remind me a bit of a Mashima character. He's got that Haru/Grey look to him.
