No, the current ending theme is "Ushimitsu Jamboree," by Stardust Revue. It has been since the beginning of the summer anime season.

Not just that, the band in question that's doing the next ending, was the same one that did first Ending Song, not the Opening.

Right.
The opening is "GeGeGe no Kitaro" by Kiyoshi Hikawa.

The EDs for Kitarou can often be quite jarring. Some episodes end very dramatically (e.g., 47), but the EDs are all very upbeat and can feel out of place. I hate not being able to gather my thoughts and emotions in these cases before the EDs kick in.
