The only real tidbit of news I got from is that we've somehow been pronouncing 'Aps' wrong this whole time.

That's not entirely clear. It's not possible to end a word with a consonant other than "n" in Japanese; except for that one exception every character and therefore every word ends in a vowel. (a, i, u, e, o). So we have no idea if the name is supposed to be "Aps" like we'd say it in English, and that the Japanese pronunce it the best they can (sort of like how a Japanese person speaking the word "beer" ends up saying "beeru"), or if it was really meant to be "Abzu" and the original localization of FFVII was incorrect.
