Honestly, if you really need to justify it's ok to masturbate to fictional kids becase aCcOrDiNg tO cAnOn they're 400 years old, you should seek mental help. How the fudge do you see a drawing of a child and thing "hm, I want to fudge that toddler looking 500 year old"? What? You want to become the new Tsutomu Miyazaki or what?

Filthy Frank was right, if you think it's ok then you're a borderline pedo.

Good luck to the mods for this one, I guess?

Look, even as someone who finds shota and loli content pretty squicky, I’d need some hard studies linking abstracted loli/shota consumption to actual child porn consumption (maybe barring some really extreme cases like that one mangaka who made hyper realistic loli porn and then turned out to be an actual pedo) before claiming that the mere existence of loli/shota stuff endangers actual kids. I’m glad the guidelines moved away from designating drawings as being “harmful to children’s privacy” in some way, since that seems like a stretch even for someone like me who outright dislikes those kinds of fetishes.

So... by this reasoning, this could cover fictional sexual representations of ANYONE not just kids.

How do you go about approaching this? All anyone needs is drawing talent and anything from a pencil and paper to a graphics tablet, so how do you stop people from producing such things.

These parts I bolded contradict each other. No rights are being violated or harmed because these are NON-EXISTING creations. It's as simple as that. It's not "justifying" anything, it's just logic. If we give rights to fictional things then soon stories won't be allowed to have murder, theft, basic assault...ect. It's a bad precedent to set.

There's more to this issue than "I want the right to masturbate to fictional anime children"

For one thing not everything somewhat sexual is meant to be masturbated to, I seriously doubt things like certain Shinobu or Hachikuji scenes in Monogatari were made with that intention.

How do you define "looks like a child"?, it can mean anything from "looks like a pre-pubescent child" to "looks under the age of majority". Would generic ecchi scenes from manga like To Love Ru constitute child pornography, and thus be banned.
? What about non-ecchi series like Shokugeki, Fairy Tail or even MHA which also have fanservice of teens? Even early Dragon Ball showed a topless 16 year old Bulma.
The line between an underage teen or young adult in anime character design can be extremely thin.

I wouldn't object to regulating content like say prohibiting porn of a 5 year old anime girl. It's the extent to which these rules would be apply to that concerns me. I don't suddenly want popular stuff which has been around for years to be called child porn.

Nah, just let these people be. This isn't even worth getting outraged at. Worst case scenario, even if Japan stopped putting pedo content in anime, there are a lot of currently existing pedo anime that people can just rewatch.

This isn't hard. Does it depict a real, living person? If not, end of story. It's a drawing. If someone has a sexual response to it, their brains are making a pattern recognition of those lines and curves to the broad, abstract, idealized imagination of their real-life sexual attraction. They would just as well get off of their daydream. (which you can argue is what the artist is expressing in reality with those drawings) You want to deem it gross, immoral, etc. Fine. But there's no reason to make it illegal.

This is just like saying violent books/movies/video games causes real-life violence. We've had this debate about media and sexuality for over a century now. How many times do we have to prove that the average person can distinguish between fantasy and reality?

I know sinophobia is a thing, but can you at least look deeper to your sources before making blank judgments like these? If you have faith in your country, then stop the hate speech or keep beating the dead horse because you felt threatened of some council’s “deep concerns” that the said council itself does not hold a high opinion of China in the first place.

PS: for your info, social score and facial recognition technologies for now are no where as advanced as you assume, they are full of holes and ways to get around them I don’t think anyone will follow the suit

I really do feel like Shimoneta could be predicting the future. Maybe not exactly but do feel like society is slowly reaching to a similar point. Like a realistic version of it.

FYI: This language is entirely non-binding and doesn't force member states to do anything.

Expressing "deep concern" and "encouraging" doesn't modify any local laws on the subject.

Considering even Steam's definition of underage content that warrants banning is any romantic interaction with a person wearing a high school uniform, I doubt this type of law will stop at what most people normally consider lolicon or shotacon. Not that UN opinions really matter unless your country completely sucks. This won't affect US law for example.

This is ignoring how drawings don't have human rights. If you want to criminalize someone making lolicon or shotacon art, you have to prove that it's traced cp and therefore actually indirectly hurting a child in my opinion. Beyond that, there's no point in enforcing a law where no living being gets sexualized.

By that same logic anyone enjoying murder and violence in media should seek mental help, lest they may become the next Charles Manson.

It's fiction. If you don't like it, don't read it/watch it/etc...
