so this weekend i happily picked up the first volume of mpd psycho. I heard such wonderful things about this manga and i absolutely love crazy weird stories about killers and what not. within the first 30 pages i wanted my money back. Even the women working at walden books was like omg this book is amazing. So i guess my biggest problem was it was just boring, i dont get how a manga on this topic, especially with its huge controversial topic and gore could suck so much.

Yeah, cause psychological thrillers really do tend to give it all away in the first third of the first volume of a series with more than a dozen volumes.

Sarcasm, much?

No pun intended, I use sarcasm to make a point all the time Laughing Anyhow...continue as you were.

Ok, I'll stand in defense of MPD.

I'll have to agree with you that the first vol was a little "huh?" However, after I read up to vol 2 and then 3 I realized why this story has so much hype. MPD is a slow builder and requires some time before it really gets good. Like a lot of horror stories (that don't just use gore as entertainment), the story requires some building. This is vol 1. The first chapter is especially odd and seems to have no connection at all with the entire story. That is until it is explained later. But by mid vol 2 and vol 3, MPD is rather creepy and finds its strength. (I'd say why but don't want to spoil it.)

In all truth, I look forward to vol 4's release. Perhaps you can search out scanalations (or opened copies of 2 & 3 in bookstores) of MPD to test out the waters.
