I saw The Deer King at Scotland Loves Anime back in October, and it's incredible. I have no reservations in saying that, in my opinion, it's the best fantasy anime film I've seen since Princess Mononoke - and I don't make that comparison lightly.
I must admit that I'm actually surprised to learn that it has yet to actually release in Japan. A shame, because this film really deserves buzz that I sadly doubt it will get.

100% agree! It was phenomenal and I can’t wait to see it again.

I liked it less than the previous commenters but still found it good overall.
It seems like a bit of a letdown that it was delayed yet again. But if it's what's needed to get more people to see it, then so be it. The film started production in 2016, so it's been a long ride.

I'm curious to see the eventual dub that will be produced for the film. It looks promising ready to watch it.
