Quote: | At the moment, the encyclopedia holds:
- 25909 titles
- 10815 anime titles (+ 609 related)
- 4962 TV series, 2834 OAVs, 2008 movies, 520 ONAs, 449 TV specials, 42 omnibus
- 13491 manga titles (+ 994 related)
- 13164 manga, 327 manga anthologies |

Keep in mind split-cour shows get separate entries, some older split-cour series aren't split (Ex: Cat's Eye, Cardcaptor Sakura, The Big O, Samurai Champloo), there's many ways to count how many anime titles are out there.

This will be great for finding out if anime that are suspected of being lost media actually exist, because I doubt the community has found out about every lost anime yet.

As the creators of anime, this should have been done long ago. Glad they are doing this. The past shouldn't be forgotten.

biggest in Japan but tiny compared to stuff like Anidb even though they merged specials and such onto the main entry page. but this is the closest we'll probably get to something official, so that's cool

Yes, great they finally did it. I hope many questions about lost media will be answered now as there are no official sources and statements whether they are lost or not.

As nice as it is to have something "official", Anime-Planet and the like have far more titles in their databases, and are in English.
Even if this "official" database was comprehensive like it's claiming, it's useless to almost everyone outside of Japan because it's only in Japanese.
