I'm absolutely delighted Romelia is getting an anime, in part because I love war chronicles, in part because female protagonists are fairly rare in this genre, and in part because it has quite a few interesting ideas.
However, I have to admit I'm also worried. It's not exactly a genre that lends well to anime adaptations in the first place (stories about an underdog building an army are inevitably slow-paced since that's not something that's done in the blink of an eye; they generally have a lot of worldbuilding, politics and large casts; battles are expensive to animate well - especially between large forces), and this trailer is... incredibly bare bones.
But yeah, Romelia is a fascinating protagonist, she's got a solid mix of cynicism and idealism where her goals are inherently good, but she's very cold and calculating in how she goes about achieving them. And the main premise of how killing the demon lord doesn't magically make a ruthless invading army disappear, and what that power vacuum might do is something more stories could stand to explore. I suspect novel is probably still the best format for this one, though.
