Very much deserved. When the movie was first announced my reaction was "They're making WHAT!?? Well, I guess it's the Spiderverse studio so I'll at least see if their quality matches the weird concept...."
It turned out to be my favorite animated films since I saw Mulan at release in theaters back in the day. All of the songs knocked it out of the park, and both sets of actors for the main characters on the film are fun to watch, so I am just happy something fresh & original won big.

This is well deserved for one of the most creative animated movies in years. .

Hopefully, if it goes on to win the Best Animated Feature Oscar, it gets a BluRay release so I can finally watch it. (I don't really do streaming.)

It's likely going to be Kpop or Zootopia 2 for the Oscar. Although interestingly Demon Slayer could get a chance with a BAFTA as Kpop isn't on the longlist as it's cinema release in the UK somehow didn't qualify it for nomination.

They never give the first movie in a trilogy the award.
I’m more surprised it beat the Disney films, but maybe I shouldn’t be.

Demon Slayer always had zero chance of winning when it's a sequel movie to an on going series and even most hardcore fans of the series admit the movie is just a bunch of episodes strung together as a movie.

I mean if we wanted to talk about "Anime" Movies for the masses I would put my vote for 100 METERS. No prior commitment for that film. I'm all for K-Pop Demon Hunters winning because I don't "need" it to win, I just need Disney to lose.

Anything that makes the mouse house eat humble pie (ie: KPop Demon Hunters, Wild Robot) gets a solid thumbs up from me.

Disney hasn't won best animated feature in like three years. We can stop complaining about Disney winning awards now.
