I think the best part is that the show just avoid all the usual dumb pitfall of rom com. Tiny disagreement that can be fixed in simple conversation get fixed in simple conversation. It doesn't feel like anyone is holding the idiot ball to stretch the plot around. I'm guessing it'll have more of a ensemble cast as the show will go on, so that's probably how they'll get around making more content beyond the main cast being a great couple.

?? Sometime it really feel like I watched an entirely different show...
Dan Dan Dan goes out of its way to establish Okarun as a massive loser, while establishing Momo has a great and desirable girl, so the romance is all in on wish fulfillment and proud of it. Polar opposite simply doesn't do that, there's no scene of Tani being harassed by stereotypical bully and no comment hyping Miyu as one of the most popular girl in school or anything, that's how it doesn't come off like wish fulfillment, the POV character has nothing to do with it (not that DDD pov is particularly focused on Momo).

Miyu seeing Tani's phone search results absolutely sent me, it was such a real and hilarious moment and actually seeing the man visibly embarrassed was really good.

Wait you want her to be MORE over the top?? TBH, my biggest gripe about this show so far is that Suzuki is just too much and I'd like to see her dial it down a notch or ten.
I'm not sure in what world she comes across as a fairly realistic teenager but to me she feels very much like a cartoon character; no one acts that way.

In a season fairly stacked with powerhouse anime, this little show that could is really putting in a strong early case for being my pick for the best. Everything about it is delightful. From the fun and creative OP, though saturated colours and wacky animation, the reliably landed jokes and effective use of quieter more emotional beats right up to the ED which really puts me in mind of a similar isometric sequence for Horimiya.
There's barely a moment when our adorable mess of a protagonist isn't deforming into a ball of emotional overload of one sort or another, and it commits to that with such charm and warmth that somehow feels grounded anyway.

Another understated joke that really worked for me was Miyu dragging the lettuce leaf out of the burger to intense embarrassment.

Hopefully it also swerves the usual trick (which it has so far) of speed-running the confession and then playing all the usual tropes anyway. They've managed to organise themselves a cute date and hold hands already, so the story doesn't seem to want to engage with the usual "the opposite sex are terrifying alien creatures, and being seen in possession of emotions is literally the worst thing that could happen to me" guff. We even shut down the "everyone knowing they're in a relationship with me would be bad for their reputation" nonsense in no time.

So much this. I do find parts of this endearing, but Suzuki is this close to driving me away, even though I can relate to her getting extra loud when she's talking about things she's excited about. It's just that she's excited about everything.

I don't mind when reviewers watch dubs as I like some dubs too. But it's a bit unfair there is no one reviewing the sub too. I'm watching the sub for this so I feel the reviews are just kind of not as valid for me now.

There's still a lot happening, like they're starting to ship blond kid with the librarian girl (sadly spoiled by the OP).

I've gotta say the Miyu afterimage visual gag just slightly trumped the "middle school friends" one for me. But they were both solid LOLs.

I'm really glad Miyu has dialed it down significantly from the early eps, since I'm now able to relax a bit without having to brace against her hyper onslaught, and just enjoy what this is bringing.
Yamada's good-natured, unfiltered cluelessness might just be the best thing about this show.

Me too. Being a spaz as a personality quirk is so much more palatable than it being her entire character. I have enjoyed the last couple episodes a lot more.

The dub continues to serve with extra helpings. Taira's "My middle school was too fun! My lobster was too buttery! My steak was too juicy!" killed.

Miyu's "thoughtful glares" cracked me up. Poor Tani. He has a long way to go to be able to read THOSE expressions.

My wife and I were both shocked to find ourselves uttering "he's totally right". We've taken to calling Taira incel-kun (affectionately, he does genuinely offer some great comedic moments but also he is often kind of a jackass) so we were both pleasantly surprised when he dropped some good sense. Azuma is definitely something of a people pleaser, and it ends up hurting her and I was glad someone actually saw that and stood up for her feelings to her face.
