Always nice to see Collen playing characters who are not Luffy or Erza. Let's hope she gets to play a big villain role this year.

Why did it take this long for Crunchyroll to release a dub?

I'd imagine this isn't the easiest show to dub, so letting the dub team take their time on this might've been a conscious choice on Crunchyroll's part. And judging from the quality of the performances (at least with episode one), it was the right move. The dub is really good so far, especially Emily Fajardo as Shizuka, which could NOT have been easy for her.

I mean, the anime isn't even a year old, don't know about English, but Crunchyroll has released some dubs into other countries years later after their airing in Japan, for example, Crunchyroll added Neutral Spanish and Portuguese dubs for Bocchi the Rock! in October of 2024 and Blue Exorcist finally got an official Neutral Spanish dub by CR on February of last year.
Speaking about Takopi, I wonder if CR is going to dub it into other languages, and I wonder if it gets dubbed into Neutral Spanish if they're going to cast child VAs for the characters, child dub VAs are much more common in dubs made in Mexico, even for series with serious subject matter.

They probably didn't dub it sooner because they didn't expect it to do as well as it did and also last summer was pretty stacked both for a lot of quality shows and a lot of dubs.

I'm counting on the same applying to The Holy Grail of Eris, since that's the only one I really wanted a dub for this season.

Yeah if I had to guess it'd be this. They wanted to take their safer bets that would potentially get more viewers than immediately dub the incredibly heavy subject matter in Takopi.
