One good thing Crunchyroll, just one good thing we're expecting from you which is the spring season line-up, but instead we get this. How the hell can they f-ck things up so badly and still get away with it?

This is why we need strong competition, a dominant position like sony got in the market can only bring more and more bad news.

CR is on a hot streak, it's like that meme ''I got one more in me''.

More and more, AMC strongly needs to back sentai.

Unfortunately, as long as "Exclusives" exist, there can never be any true competition. People will subscribe to watch specific shows regardless of the quality or any other factor.

Guys, ik you guys probably did not look deeper in this, but it was a third party company that is responsible, not Crunchyroll. Mainly it was a dude in the 3rd party company that apparently opened up a phishing email

This is why out sourcing to other countries is a bad idea. It was one of those said out sourcing people (I think some Indian employee) opening the malware email thus dooming everyone. My job even teaches the basics of how to avoid falling for these kind of phishing/malware scams...

Anime Consumers: Man, Crunchyroll's reputation has taken some hits lately. Between the apparent winding down of physical releases to the mismanagement of the Right Stuf acquisition to the layoffs, it's hard to say things could get any worse over there.

Crunchyroll: Hold our Asahi.

But that's my issue with the whole thing, even when hidive got exclusives people want, they still won't go and subscribe to it.. they rather support a 1 streaming service monopoly (they literally say as much, it's not even a observation).

There have been several stories where outsourcing segments of your business to overseas 3rd parties, especially outlets in India, have resulted in hacks and stolen data. Saving operational costs now could lead to spending more money to fix issues later...

Hopefully everything turns out okay and no sensitive data was taken.

For me, HIDIVE doesn't have a convenient app on PlayStation, and apparently I have to jump through hoops and Amazon Prime membership to maybe access some of it's shows. I don't really watch stuff on a PC, nor am I going out of my way to hook a PC up to my TV, nor am I in possession of one of those smart TVs or even a phone stream connection thingamabob or whatever people use today.

Also, as time goes on, using online services gets more vulnerable and it's generally a good idea not to have your info or credit card information out there in too many places precisely because of growing cyber security issues that will get compounded by AI.

But simply put, I'm not going to subscribe to everything out there. I can afford to miss out on some stuff if Crunchyroll has enough content already. So much so, I'm going to have to drop stuff on the backlog.

So I do think there is some merit to those arguments that anime may actually be suffering from too much content coming out than can realistically be consumed.

imagine actually paying for crunchyroll Shocked

Some people get home tired from work, still have to do some things to do and after that only have one or two hours for watching TV before going to sleep. Personally that's why I pay for a service that starts just as I turn on the TV, that plays whatever I have on my queue as quick as that.

Literally no one, considering the leak got through the Indian-based outsourcer company Telus.

You just answered your own question. They can get away with it because 95% (scratch that, make it 99%) of their subscribers don’t care about this shit. What they care about most (sorry, only) is the list of upcoming shows they're going to announce.

I'm suspicious that the breach happened earlier, right at the beginning of March. The CR store was largely broken for many people that first weekend and the customer service contact forms were unavailable then. Cloudflare kept blocking people and preventing checkout. Here's people talking about that on the CR subreddit.
