Anything this man pens has my immediate attention, and the fact that it's set to touch on the controversy of AI slop encroaching on every creative space known to humanity makes it even more exciting.

Nowadays everytime time I read the words AI next to an author I love my heart skips a beat, and while Urasawa has shown us all the work and dedication of the process with his documentary Manben, it's not like he's opposed to new technologies for the process as some of those mangakas did (of course they never used gen AI, but in an age where Scorsese also decided to embrace it you don't know where someone you thought valued the human process will end up going). But the description seems critical at least, or just "let's look back to the authors of the past who did by themselves". Looking forward to it.

On his YouTube page, Urasawa has done multiple videos on traditional manga techniques predating digital art, and I’m assuming this series are partly inspired by those. They’re fascinating videos and also how I found out that pen scritches are my ASMR.

I think he's famous enough, now, you can just say his name without prefacing the headline with one of his works Wink.

Well Rodrigo y Gabriela just dropped a few days ago a new song inspired by MONSTER and Naoka Urasawa illustrated the video. It's really enjoyable. Video is on YT.

Very excited for this, he has made great work in the past! This could be inspiring, to see his manga about manga.

Thanks for posting that. Beautiful song, beautiful art. Really fascinating watching the early sketches turn into the finished work. Went perfectly with the music too.

But Asadora isn't over yet... and it's getting more and more interesting. Is he going to do both series at the same time?

He’s written multiple series at the same time throughout his earlier career, though since about 2008 he’s usually just focused on one project with the occasional one shot.
