1/2:
I liked the double premiere a lot more than I expected to given the generic title. There have been several other anime with mostly the same premise plus even the same title and they were nothing special. What works for me in this one is the mc not being new to the world: he is rather experienced, knows more about the status of the world than he lets on and has a very pragmatic attitude (plus the skills to back it up). The contrast with the hero party who very much fit the cliche of one is also something I can appreciate. I am curious to see where the story will go next. |

Yah, I also found this one more entertaining than I thought I would. It's not like I broke out the foam fingers and am eagerly waiting for next Wednesday to roll around, and I'm gun shy enough about loli female leads that I wish they hadn't introduced the demon lord's daughter with a wedding proposal though the MC's reaction was appropriate. But, I like the basic premise, and I do wonder what secret the MC discovered that allowed him to reach max level and how he discovered it. I wonder that in the way I think the anime wants me to wonder about it. Is this a stealth isekai or what?

The story is interesting enough that it keeps me invested. It is pretty obvious that the demon king is not in control on that side so that leaves the question of who is. Most of the hero party seem up for a conversation besides the magician, given her brief flashback she is filled with hate. A few things shown make the human side also seem a but dubious so there is likely not a ''good guys side'' in all of this. Could be similar to A Wild Last Boss Appeared! in that a god is messing about with some kind of plan. |

I like that it doesn't seem like the MC's party and the hero's party are going to be antagonistic towards each other because this feels like a pseudo 'thrown out of the hero's party' story.

I like that they made the logical point of killing all demons vs killing all humans. The demons have thus far caused a lot of death (indirectly and without wanting to) because they generate monsters. People want to kill their entire race because of that. When a human kills other humans you are not supposed to judge the entire race though. I also like that the mc party and hero party will not be enemies. They may end up trying to achieve different things but they are atleast communicating. |

Yah, I went into this week thinking of it as episode 3 since the first week was a double decker, and I was seriously evaluating whether or not I want to keep watching this anime.
The animation's not great, and the MC has superman level strength and a Wolverine like healing factor and seems to be right all the time. But, the MC did actually need and get help last episode, and he's not obnoxious about being right all the time - he doesn't feel a need to convert or judge people. So, I'm willing to keep going down the road with this one for at least a while longer, and part of that is because the ethical situation is a bit interesting. The demons aren't inherently evil, but it is as if they have a plague (monsters) that can't be quarantined. Do the demons and their mana leakage create monsters, attract monsters, or cause dimensional breaches? Whichever, they seem to be a threat to others just by existing. The MC keeps referring to the world as a place where the rules seem hellbent (no pun intended...y'know, demon wise) on creating conflict and victims. Are they conscious lifeforms in a game? AI NPCs or something? Is there a solution? The set-up is a little more interesting than "Have system, will travel." And, yeah, I like that the hero party isn't the standard collection of dillholes too. |
