I thought this was fun. The male lead wasn't annoying - or at least, I didn't find him so- which could have been a problem since this show is going to be at least half fluffy romance. The main character is easy to cheer for, and the kaiju scenes were fresh. I'm not sure what the deal is with the mom figure - she's a lot of fun, but she seems to know a lot more about what's going than she should if her only source of info were doctor visits where no one could tell her anything.
This was probably the anime I felt the most strongly about today. Bring it on. |

Okay that was kind of adorable. I wonder how they'll reign the kaiju thing in enough to be more practical. Mom might know some kaiju calming tricks? Magic bracelet? Or who knows maybe they'll just leave her going full kaiju every episode. That would make it tough for her to get anywhere though.

I liked it. A gender reversed Beauty and the Beast story. It wasn't a situation where I was, like, "this a keeper, for sure!" but certainly did enough to make me want to check out more. |

Hmm. On paper, this is a fun quirky genre mix up. In practice, how it was deployed was deeply predictable and the character writing was incredibly by the numbers and made me think of many forgettable no-gimmick high school romances of recent seasons.
I may give it another episode as I kind of like Kaiju stuff. But when we recently had The Summer Hikaru Died just having a high concept isn't quite enough for me here. |
