I tried to watch the first episode of Heavy Knight. Never thought I could get vertigo from watching an anime. |
The LitRPG isekai story is boring (as of Episode 1) but the excellent GoHands animation (love the hair) makes it worth watching.

It's not because of the fanservice gags and perverted reactions since I already saw that in Dragon Ball and Ranma, but because the show is insisting to have polygamy. I recall watching harem anime as teenager but those ended on reasonings that such relationships don't work. I recall it was Saber Marionette J to X and Vandread the ones I used to watch. |
However, most "harem anime" is not - it is almost always the protagonist having to choose between multiple potential partners, but in the end only getting together with one of them (multiple timelines do not count here). Only a handful of shows have dating/marriage between more than 2 persons at a time (and at least one of those shows is satire).

Reminds me that real life addicts with limited financial means will almost always choose nicotine over crack/cocaine.

Anyone making a comparison to another version of the show to what is specifically referenced here would be disallowed.
And that's ridiculous. Discussion of a show is naturally going to include previous incarnations of the show and the larger anime ecosystem it is situated in. If you're going to include a show in the preview guide, the show is going to be discussed in the forum thread about the preview guide. Again, the tone is continuously one of forbidding the discussion from taking place, and stopping it as it crops up. It simply must not be allowed for people to discuss a show in ways its fans do not approve of. |
If the discussion is about comparing the current GitS to previous versions, then it's still on topic. If someone uses this as an excuse to rant about everything bad in a previous version, then it becomes off topic.
This current discussion about Mushoku didn't arise naturally. As I previously stated, the user who ignited the argument has not been keeping up with the series and was not engaging with the review about the current episode. It was just an excuse to bring up dislike of the series in general. The user later watches the episode in question (without the context of previous cours), to have a pretext to fan the flames. This was obvious not a good faith effort to engage in discussion.
Some people love Mushoku Tensei, some people hate it. The difference in opinion will probably never be resolved, no matter how many times these two groups argue. That is not necessarily a bad thing, as people are entitled to their own opinions. The problem is that when these arguments happen, they hijack the discussion regardless of the original topic. The arguments keep happening because some people keep looking for excuses to stir up trouble.

Question was the early screener you got for Clevatess Season 2 actually the first 2 episodes in 1, because a couple of these screenshots were not in episode 1 on the site.

I have bad news about the internet and human conversation in general. All conversation is people just bringing up the same points repeatedly, over and over, without variation, with no one changing their minds or opinions. This is, apparently, what some people enjoy. This is a discussion about the Summer 2026 Anime Preview Guide. Mushoku Tensei is part of the Summer 2026 Anime Preview Guide, it was given two reviews of 5 stars, meeting the requirements that all of its reviewers gave it 4 stars. Therefore, it was given a trophy. People are going to, therefore, discuss the reviews and the series. It is not a distraction that hijacks discussion away from the Preview Guide. It is, again, what the preview guide is about. It is somehow only "on topic" when the show is being praised, and a "hijacking" when the show is being criticized. The rules are only cited when fans are angry.

Oh, that's not "silly" at all because you have to sort them in ascending spectral order of color (brown/red/orange etc) arranged in geometric patterns such as rings or rhombuses depending on how many come out of the bag at once before consuming them also in that order or else they become toxic and possibly something more catastrophic that I don't know because I've never ever tried it to find out... (so don't do it)

If you mean the speech at 1:02.00 I suggest watching again. Tanya mentions the "Commies" at several points other than that but never actually endorses fascism but asserts Communism is Totalitarianism and is the antithesis of meritocracy which is her ideal. They executed thousands of potential mages, their own people, because they could be a threat with the result that they asked for foreign mages to help...

[Potentially provocative comment removed. - Key]
Buchigire Reijou wa Houfuku wo Chikaimashita is fun. I hope it will stay fun, brain-off series to watch. It's kinda hilarious creator considered question "but what about normal people" when making "revenge against kingdom" story and went out of their way to make them bad too in order to make pinning for heroine as guilt free as possible
Youjo Senki S2 - great as always. Aoi Yuuki is incredible as always. Villain protagonist fun as always. Interesting how everything will come to bite Tanya in the lower backside later.
Seihantai na Kimi to Boku S2 - one of the best romantic comedies in recent years is still great, not surprising in the slightest. The manga just started being published in my country, so I'm buying it too
I still need to check Kore Kaite Shine, Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga and Sparks of Tomorrow.

In other news, I finally watched Goodbye Lara. Yep, abso-[expletive]-lutely gorgeous. The scene at the end in particular where Lara emerges from the sea near Japan had me in awe. I'm not sure what brought this general revival of 1990s anime aesthetic (probably millennials at this point dominating both the potential audience and the creator side) but I appreciate it; it could get repetitive at the time but seeing it applied judiciously and in combination with modern sakuga really makes it shine.

Tomb Raider King does nothing special but the mc is an a-hole with a bit of personality and that makes it fun enough to watch more. Some of the dungeons in the opening also look like interesting locations.
My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked might become repetitive over time but the opening showed a lot of different characters plus it is always welcome to have atleast one show that delivers fluffy vibes to relax with. Seeing Miya live a better life is rather satisfying.
Saga of Tanya the Evil II is more of the weird yet addictive mix of the first season and movie. I could have done without pedo comrade but Tanya now leading an entire batallion is bound to make for a chaoticly fun time.
The Ghost in the Shell premiere I really enjoyed but having watched Stand Alone Complex multiple times with the last time having been last year made the difference in tone quite something. It will take me a bit to get used to major being bratty for example.

We (and by that I mean Moderators) allow some leeway on general discussion about titles featured in the Preview Guide as long as it doesn't stray dramatically from what's covered in the PG and doesn't come to the point of dominating the thread. Parts of MT's discussion violate both conditions, so yes, labeling it as thread hijacking is appropriate in this case, and so we are putting a stop to it.
MT is a show that generates sharp opinions. Going on ad nauseam about those opinions in an appropriate series discussion thread is fine. This is not the place for that.
All further discussion about MT, beyond just a basic reaction or general mention (i.e., "I'm planning to follow these titles this season") is therefore restricted. And this time I'll start pulling posts if people try to weasel around that.

Admittedly, there are points that kind of threw me because of that. Stuff like her getting embarrassed at them getting a peek at her memories when the stoic and hyper-competent Major we're used to would have either not let that happen or maybe warned them about getting zapped after they got too close to scare them. Admittedly, it still works, even if it feels a little odd to see the Major being kind of cute.

You can put me the "what else do you have?" camp for My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked. It's certainly not terrible but man, the first episode was so repetitive. I kinda skipped the last five minutes, but will give it another episode or two before abandoning it. I'm going to assume they add something else to the mix. I always think of Tomo-Chan is a Girl now; I liked the first episode well enough, but in the second episode when they introduced Carol Olsted just elevated it immediately. I'm kind of hoping for that sort of thing to happen here. If not...well, there's a lot to watch this season anyway.
Very nice to have Old Country Bumpkin back. We've got some great shows this season, but it never hurts to also have a number of very good ones as well.
Saintess with an RV was cute, and I like the character. Great localization; I laughed when she noted she was "in a pickle" at one point. That's not an idiom I hear much anymore (back in the day it was pretty popular), and I also laughed at her fishing out a "hot guy!" Not sure she should materialize her RV up in the air, forcing it to crash to earth, though. Right now it's a modestly amusing watch, but again, hopefully it adds another character or other element that raises it up a level. Even where it is now, though, I can spare it 20 minutes a week.

I enjoyed the new Ghost in the Shell quite a lot. I feel like the radically different interpretations of Lupin the 3rd have primed me for this sort of thing.
Red River's first episode was... well, I mean, I'd hoped for something spectacular, something lavishly-animated, something befitting the manga I love so much. This ain't that. But I still found it enjoyable, and am glad to see it FINALLY getting an adaptation.
Goodbye, Lara is definitely the standout for me thus far. Really adore the character designs and how fluid some of the animation is. Kind of reminds me of Zenshu somehow, though I'm not sure I can cleanly articulate just why.
Beyond that I'm still on the fence about whether or not I should try out certain shows or not. Like I remember really enjoying the first Tanya anime, way back when, but then I tried the light novels and hoo boy does the anime benefit a LOT from not bothering with Tanya's inner monologue as much -- there's so much facile musing on politics and so little plot movement in the novels, I don't know if I still have the capacity to enjoy the anime, which is a shame, because the basic setting/premise is a fun one.
Then there's Victoria and the All-Works Maid shows. I tend to read at least the first volume of all the villainess and villainess-adjacent LNs licensed by either JNC or YP, and I remember Victoria as one of the better ones, but I don't know that the story there has much that an anime adaptation can meaningfully elevate or alter. I think I've only really seen that happen once or twice with a villainess story (the one that first comes to mind is 7th Time Loop, I think, and a recent-ish comedic one whose title I've forgotten -- flat affect dark-magic sorceress villainess, really made the comedy pop more than in the LN). Meanwhile I've not read the Maid books, but it's hard not to think I'd be better off doing that than watching the anime -- not unless it winds up being unusually popular, for whatever reason, and it doesn't appear to be quite there yet.
And then there's the biggest omission from my watchlist: Patlabor EZY Easily my most-anticipated anime of the season, but at least here I have the excuse of not having a choice. Do we have a date for when the first batch of episodes will be released publicly yet?

Maybe it's because Cinderella Gray was so good, but am I the only one who wishes we had a great sports anime this season? Or have I missed one?

Iron Wok Jan is effectively like a sports anime, only the "sport" is cooking Chinese cuisine.

Believe Lara comes back in Lake Biwa. Guess merpeople are one of the marine creatures that can live in both salt and fresh water.

A pleasant and fluffy anime is not a bad thing (those who think anime should be high art may safely skip this one).

Shades of Cross Ange, which ended up getting its own thread.
BanG Dream! Yume∞Mita
This one is a lot of fun, but the appeal is likely limited to those who love cute girls behaving in a questionable manner.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You
Another niche show, but anyone who enjoys banter over action should check it out.
