This one caught my attention but i'll reserve my judgement for when the actual story starts up. It looks different and the fight in the beginning of episode one looked good.

Episode 3 didn't impress me. I really like the look, and the music, but I suppose I just find the characters annoying, Black Star and Tsubaki being the worst, and Maka and Soul being the least. I'm going to finish this one to the end, but I find myself getting bored during episodes; i don't enjoy fights unless they provide character development, or they are really really awesome like in Black Lagoon. Death the Kidd's fight didn't do it for me; so far only Maka and Soul's first battle was impressive to me.

The sisters were fun and I particularly liked when they wielded each other to dodge and counterattack against the mummies. Death the Kid was okay. He wasn't nearly as annoying as Black Star, but I hope they really tone down his OCD. It can be funny in small doses, but they overdid it and if they keep it at that level, it will be very annoying.

But the prologues are over and the real story is about to start. From what I hear, some of the annoying aspects of the characters should be toned down after this.

Well, I finally found a standard def version of episode 3 (my computer apparently can't handle the HD version). First episode is still my favorite. Also, I'm finding all of the male characters are pushing their gimmicks a little too far. They take it one step past funny to the point of annoyance.

The prologues were essentially pilots, so everything was exagerrated to draw people in. Things are definitely more subdued starting with episode 4.

I was going to write my opinion on Episode 3, but then I realized that my favorite painting downstairs was crooked by an eighth of an inch; so I needed to fix it right away Laughing.

Death the Kidd is the best of the three, and am eager to see what he's going to bring to the "Soul Eater" table.

That voice was more in line with his seiyuu's normal voice.

Ugh. Was hoping against hope there. I've seen only people say the same thing suggesting that he was changing it to suit the seriousness of the situation. spoiler[ I question how the situation was anymore serious or life threatening than prior eps. Especially since it's an extracurricular assignment that he even planned with stein. He should have saved that voice for the flashbacks that go before they started taking kids as techs. He was freaking perfect for the first three eps >.<;;]

I'm expecting...interesting things from Shinigami. Not least because in a show with Soul Eater's sense of humour, he's the representation of the friggin' Grim Reaper. Twisted Evil

I am slightly alarmed at the thought of the kids going up against Death Scythe's first Meister. Especially given that name, which had me making hopefully unnecessary and inaccurate comparisons.

Could someone please clarify the student Meisters' goal (yes, there was an explanation in ep.4, but I missed it)? Are the Death Scythes created purely for the use of Shinigami himself?

Episode 4 was basically one big fight and yet kept my attention. It looked good, and seeing Black Star actually pull off his Assassin bit he's always yammering on about was rather satisfying. I felt bad for Maka, simply tripping up on the 'soul frequency' thing. Methinks she'll master it eventually though. And then some, given her attitude and ability she appears to have.

Just watched episode 5. So far the series has been painfully hit-or-miss from episode to episode. I liked episode 1, hated episode 2, loved episode 3, didn't like episode 4, and liked episode 5. If this keeps up I'll only end up liking half the series. Anime dazed I'm really questioning why people like the manga so much. So far I've felt that the series is trying far too hard to be cool.
