Hey I was wondering if a box set for Chobits, Onegai Teacher, or Ai yori Aoshi is in the works. I saw some episodes of all and would like to buy the whole series if I could get them all at a bargain. Any info would be great.

Onegai Teacher and Ai Yori Aoshi currently don't have R1 box sets available. Both shows have the 1st disc + box. You'll have to wait a while for a complete set to come around since they both releases were finished a few months ago. The way Bandai has been releasing their box sets, you'll probably get a brick for Onegai Teacher. Geneon will probably use the box from the 1st disc + box release and put the other 4 disc with it.

I'm still waiting for a super cheap Cardcaptor Sakura boxset from Genon/Pioneer because I DO NOT have $450+ to spend on the individual dvds, no matter how much I love CCS or CLAMP. *is a highschool student with no job*

And while I'm at it, I'm also waiting for a Sailor Moon S and Super S boxset! Evil or Very Mad Evil people not putting stuff into boxsets to make things cheaper for cheap me!

I think it's most likely they'll release at least a box for the chobits dvds. I don't know about a whole boxset though. Been a while since I've seen a new one of those.

... for a second there I thought you said the boxset, not a boxset. Heh. Well, I started that series before I knew what I was doing and knew about "waiting" and boxsets, so now I'm only missing 4 random ones. Maybe it'll eventually get re-released as a 'signature series'.

For me, though, that $450 U.S. was spread out over several years (well, probably almost a half-decade by the time I finish collecting Cardcaptor Sakura), so it's still preferable to me than spending, say, $300 U.S. for one big box at once, since I'm the sort of fan whom likes to spread his money thin collecting several different series at the same time, so the large box sets are just impractical to me since I haven't had that much money at any one time for several years.

But different fans have different spending habits, I just find it amusing that I made essentially the same "no matter how much I love _____, I do not have that kind of money" argument against huge boxsets on the AnimEigo mailing list back when AnimEigo was originally taking preorders for the DVD release of the Kimagure Orange Road TV series, which was originally sold only as one humongous 12-disk set, though now you can get the individual disks at retail locations, thankfully. I hope Pioneer/Geneon does sell a mega-CCS boxest eventually, but only if those of us whom prefer buying it the other way can still buy the disks individually.

Thanks for somehow turning my question into a conversation about how much you all like CCS. I'm just joking to let you know.
CCS is a very good anime. Well thanks anyway everyone, I think I'll just go ahead and buy each series individually, because there's only like 4 OT and 6 Chobits or whatnot. It's not a million like CCS.

But all the straight answers to the original questions are in gnikdrazil's post, and there's little more to say about that, and the rest of us were talking about hypothetical box sets in general and the advantages and disadvantages of buying huge box sets vis-à-vis buying individual disks, using Cardcaptor Sakura as an object example.

Being that there was no original box with any of the cardcaptors....you might end up with something really annoying like the Fushigi Yuugi "boxes" and still charge you $449.95 Anime cry

Crying or Very sad Don't get me started on the price of that series.

And that is the reason I will never own it. But, fortunately...*hehehehe* my cousin is psycho enough to have bought it.

I'm looking forward to the cheap Arjuna and Princess Nine series box sets! The pre-order prices are SO LOW. I'm quite thrilled.

Since they are releasing the Sailor Moon series in a cheaper disc format, I've actually been thinking of picking them up. Some people get upset at the thick red bar on top but it doesn't bother me. I'm not interested in the $200 box sets.

If they ever do CCS box sets Im sure it would season box sets simular to what Media Blasters did with Kenshin. Instead of 300 bucks all in one wack for a boxset.

What thick red bar? Are you talking about bootlegs? I got my legit ADV 1st season box for $125 Canadian (well, before sales tax), and you can get it at DeepDiscountDVD.com for just $90, which is a very reasonable price for 46 episodes (slightly less than $2 an episode).

No, Geneon (formerly Pioneer) is releasing their Signature Series discs. They're about $5 cheaper now and have a huge red bar at the top to show they are the Sig. Series ones. They've got the exact same thing as the original releases. It's kinda the Geneon DVD version of the Playstation Greatest Hits.
