I just whisked through the guide on my Dish Network sattelite a short time ago and I see that Descendants of Darkness will be premiering tomorrow night at midnight for a full-hour block on Sci-fi Channel, which will be taking the place of Now and Then, Here and There. From what I hear of the series, it dabbles into elements of the occult and has a following from yaoi shippers.
I haven't seen the series yet, so this is an opportunity for me to see what it's like. It beats having to see anything from Manga Entertainment's crappy anime backlog again.

Ah, yes, I've seen some of this! I don't remember it too well, but I remember finding it mildly amusing as it was one of a few titles forced on me by my yaoi-loving friends. (I don't love yaoi at all, but I can take it in non-pornographic doses for a laugh.) I think I'll give this show a whirl, at the very least so I can stop getting it mentally confused with the quite similar show I watched around the same time: Mirage of Blaze.

They ran this a while ago on the now-defunct AZN TV. I think they were showing this show and Fushigi Yuugi at the same time. I watched a couple episodes of each and couldn't get into either.
While I probably won't watch this, I do like that they are showing some older shows along with the new ones. I'm not sure I would have had the chance to see Now and Then, Here and There if they had not shown it and it was a series I liked a lot.

I moderately liked DoD. The first couple of episodes are kind of cheesy, then it gets better, but before you know it, it is over. The ending really is inexcusable, in more ways than one.
So I guess I should say I wanted to have gotten into it a lot more, if I was ever given a chance.
It really had a good setup to become a decent longer show. At least 26, maybe 39.
And the whole yaoi thing, while present, wasn't as over the top as it first may seem. Which is probably why it got better, since more focus on plot is always a good thing.
So to review how things will go. So-so-->pretty good-->Those son of a bitch's

I watched it back on AZN as well. And I rewatched it as well only a couple months ago on Anime Selects On Demand. I'm not too much into bishōnen animes, so this series didn't suit my fancy too much. But I guess it wasn't bad. The story line doesn't really arch that well, though. But it's only 13 episodes, and think it deserves to be watched at least one time through.

Never seen this one before so I guess I'll give it a watch. Anything is better (hopefully) than the parade of crap-tastic OAVs they've been putting on after Gurren Lagaan lately.

I'll give it a shot but being a guy I'm not into yaoi so if that's a heavy theme I'm dumping it.

It's almost a running gag instead of being very serious, if it helps. I mean, occasionally there's a sense that there's real "romantic tension" there, but it always *wink wink, nudge nudge*s it and moves on. I never saw the end or anything, but all the yaoi hintings sort of pop in then skip away with a giggle. So it depends.

I've never seen this before, I'll definitely give it a try. I'm not into yaoi, but I'm willing to watch anything. The OAVs that have been running after Gurren Lagann as of late have left me bored to tears.

I used to watch Descendants of Darkness on the defunct AZN television. It used to air back to back with Record of Lodoss War. I loved both series, and just recently ordered the final two DVDs of Descendants of Darkness. (I already have Record of Lodoss War). While I do love the series, it is one of those that depends on your tastes. There are some homo-romantic hints, but nothing explicit. If I remember correctly, there was one or two kiss scenes, and they were very mild. The story is very good with a dash of intrigue, and the characters are likable. Though the characters are bishonen, they aren't typical pretty boys that you see in other anime. They're more described as handsome and suave.

Well, mildly amusing is really the best word for what I just witnessed. It's probably not going to be very good, but it should pass the time. I hear Pokemon VAs again...
...only this time, unlike NTHT, the acting's rather bad. But it's a yaoi anime. What do you expect? Already it's showing that pretty heavily. I mean, was that S&M "kidnapping" in the next episode preview? Methinks, methinks.
About the best part of this was the fighting and spellcasting and the "food fight" scene was pretty cute and clever. That's about it, but I don't really watch yaoi, so this is fresh for me, in all its unrealistic mediocrity...I can't really indulge in the pretty men so much because the character designs themselves are a little elaborate, jagged and grating. Check out those body proportions. CHECK THEM OUT. They're just not visually pleasing, and while I can tell the characters apart, it's the specific style of bishi I'm not crazy about. Don't know how to describe it, but these aren't no Vampire Knight or Furuba bishis.
(I did hear Matsuhiro Maniwa's VA playing a 16 year old boy, which was WEIRD, he does NOT sound 16! At the very least he was one of the better actors. Anything has to be better than our campy villain and the fake-Brit blonde with James' voice acting fake-queer and stupid.)

Well my friend absolutely loves this show. I never saw it so I'm going to give it a chance. Yaoi doesn't really bother even if it's not my favorite thing so even if it is heavy on yaoi sometimes as long as it's done well I won't mind. I thought it was pretty ok last night.

I missed the first 2 episodes of this one, but I don't think that I missed out on much seeing as how mediocre this show has been. Though, I'm sure that I'm not the only one with this opinion, seeing as how so few people have commented on this thread.
The dub is awful, and why oh why does a bird have a New York accent? Just unnerving. For me, the only redeeming quality for this show is the BGM. Not the opening song, though, which sounds like the singer has marbles in his mouth.
It just seems to be doing filler episodes for the most part, except for the first 3 episodes where the villain was introduced. The show is only 13 episodes long, so the ending will probably be bad, as well. But at least it'll be over quickly.

Yeah I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes and it didn't interest me at all, so I shut off the TV after Gundam 00 yesterday and went on to do something else.
