I have to know if this is true, or if this was an April fools joke that thousands of people keep saying. I keep hearing that Naruto got licensed by 4Kids, and that it will be showing saturday mornings. I also heard that they are going to change the name to Ninja Academy. Can anybody verify if this is true or not?

We don't know if has been licensed yet. No one does. I am pretty sure if it was we would have seen information about it, at least, on ANN's front page. |

This rumour keeps poping up. Read Ms. Answerman to hear the truth in nearly every column that nothing has been decided, plus it would be nearly certain to be Viz due to the structure of Naruto Properties, and Viz holding the Manga rights.

Nope, Naruto hasn't been licensed by anyone yet. I'm expecting an announcement to be made about the license in the next few months.

What brought it up was a website (umm...[This URL is a known Fansub Distribution website], I think) said on April Fools that it got licensed and all these changes were going to happen and ADV lost all this money because they were supposed to get the deal.....it was a big joke and people took it seriously. |

Indeed... my suspicions are that we will hear a license sometime this year. In fact, since Anime Boston is this weekend, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to hear of multiple series being licensed... we shall see.

Naruto being licensed by 4kids was instigated by a guy who thought I was Gen FUkunaga and that FUNimation DID have one piece and toei took it from them because "they didn't want funimation to have all the good anime".
Now really, how the fudge is that reliable? |

i hope that naruto doesn't get licensed by them they'll probablly change the names like they did for Shaman king ex.hao to zeke. they'll change the name of naruto to nick or something like that.

If anyone should have the license to Naruto,it should be Viz.Maybe then it'll air on Adult Swim. I have nothing against 4kids,but whether or not I want them to them to have Naruto is besde the point,since I doubt they'd be interested in it. I mean,it's hard to kiddify a show with such things as the "Ninja centerfold",among other things.Naruto will most likely have an M for Mature rating. |
