Obviously spoilers ahead

I just blew through the 9 volumes following the anime. It seemed really contrived that both main characters would just throw away their futures in sport and college after the bulk of the series reinforced the opposite viewpoint of not having the child. Does anyone agree with that? I just felt kinda betrayed by the writer...

For future reference even if your first line says there are spoilers just for the sake of people who haven't read the series and just straggle along through topics do put spoiler tags.

As for the ending, spoiler[I'm fine that they kept the child. A bigger focus of the series was to show Akitsuki's transformation from an impulsive kid into a responsible man in the eyes of Suzuka. Having him sacrifice his future for his unborn child is by far the greatest example of showing responsibility. If he and Suzuka had decided not to keep the child that would undo everything Akitsuki experienced in becoming the person he is at the end of the series].

As for my personal reasons, spoiler[I think I would've hated the ending if they had aborted their child just for their sports and college careers. I would never support or like characters that would sacrifice the life of a person just for their personal gains].

I loved this manga from beginning to end. I thought that the end was fitting of the story. spoiler[It shows that they matured to the point where they realized that there are more important things in life. Which is why I think that it was good that they kept the kid. Plus the bulk of the manga had nothing to do with collage or sports, the bulk of it was about personal growth and romance. The sports aspect kind of fell out of focus after a while. i think that's why Kouji Seo made Crossover. Anyways i think that Kouji Seo did a great job at writing this series.] And hey, if you didn't like that ending, just read The Town Where You Live, that's pretty good so far.
