Ggultra2764's last votes not only took the field to 128 with a score of 2+ but they are also the only votes in the last 48 hours. I will give it another 16 hours from the time of this post for people to make last-ditch efforts to deny those currently in, pump up an alternate candidate, try to inflate vote totals, or make a last-ditch effort to promote a new offering, at which time I will close the nominations phase and announce the final participant list.
Honestly, though, this is the least confident I've ever felt that we have a truly great field, as I think we're missing a lot of options. (No one got nominated from Gurren Lagann, for instance, and surely there's someone in Urusei Yatsura who should be in here.) But that could just be because, unlike in every other tournament we've done, I don't see any real favorites to win - or even a definitive "top tier" of candidates - this time. Picking seeds (and doing minigame entries) for this one is going to be a bitch. Enh, I know at least one character whom I'm convinced will make the Final Four, though maybe not necessarily win. But I'm not sayin' who. . .

Not only does Natori help Natsume by helping him to deal with ayakashi from time to time, but also by being supportive and friendly towards Natsume, whose experience made him a bit withdrawn. |

Think we can extend those 16 hours till Saturday or Sunday morning? If we are low on viable candiates then I think I can write up 4 more. But I can't get to any pics right now at work so they won't be official until I get home. Unless someone wants to do a write up for the following:
Shōhei Harada, Touch Kittan Bachika, Gurren Lagann Rossiu Adai, Gurren Lagann Shihouin Yoruichi, Bleach Treize Kushrenada, Gundam Wing Lyuze, Casshern Sin Yayoi Fujisawa, Stellvia Masaru Odawara, Stellvia Norman Burg, Big O (Oh man I totally forgot about this guy!) Oh... that's more then four. Better stop or I'm gonna make it too long a night for me. Also I think the ensemble ruling (although totally nesscary) had a lot of people seconding guessing their nominations and what not. Hence the smaller turn out. Or if someone would be nice enough to link me images for those characters then I could do a write up. Tag them please if you do. |

He is connected with the Tragedy of Sabrie, thus he is knowledgeable about the situation that the main hero has to face. He helps Oz, the main hero, to find Alice in Cheshire Cat's dimension and gives him some information about Glen Baskerville. |

Nominating: Shōhei Harada, Touch Pic Primary Roles: Unlikely Friend, Insightful Friend, the Muscle What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: He starts off as the supposed bad guy or bully type but the main character is somehow able to connect with him and they become friends. Although intimidating and seemingly cold, he seems to be wise and insightful beyond his age and shares that with the main cast. And although he doesn't like to show it, he is sincerely concerned about the 2 main characters of the series and worries for them when they seem troubled. Kittan Bachika, Gurren Lagann Pic Primary Roles: Mecha Pilot, Friendly Rival, Surprisingly a Strong Support for the main cast during troubled times What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: At first the loud mouth rival to Kamina, he ends up being a very important character in the series. He helps gather other pilots to fit with Gurren Lagann, he takes command of the team when Simon and everyone else is still mourning overspoiler[ Kamina's death], and he scarifices his life in order to save them all from spoiler[a deadly anti-spiral trap]. Rossiu Adai, Gurren Lagann Pic Primary Roles: The Brains, back-up pilot, Necessary Opposition What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: Although young he proved to fairly smart and was always assisting Leeron with various task. He also fights along side Simon as the pilot for Gurren at times. He eventually becomes Simon's second in command after the war and handles most of the technically stuff. When the society becomes uneasy with the new anti-spiral attacks, he has to take to take up the role as the one who needs to keep the order. Even if it meant turning his back on his friends and use Simon as a scapegoat to appease the rage of the population. Shihouin Yoruichi, Bleach Pic Primary Roles: cat, Mentor, espionage, super spirit ninja What Makes Her A Great Supporting Character: She is primarily the reason a number of characters are as strong as they are because she was the one who trained them. Strong and super hot, she is also a force on the battlefield with her incredible speed. Although a bit playful and laid back, she allows keeps her cool, wise, and is understanding of what needs to be done. Primary Roles: Savvy Dilator, Military Strategist, Leader What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: An antagonist to the main cast, he always carried himself in a honorable manner that made it hard to hate him as a villain. He also understand the true means to wars that while lives lost are tragic, they are needed to show the horrors of wars and move those who wish to stop them. Eventually his views and thoughts sync with the main cast and other main antagonist; all fighting a grand battle to display the foolishness of war and motivating those who had the true power to bring peace to their world into actions. Lyuze, Casshern Sin Pic Primary Roles: Assassin, Observer, Love Interest What Makes Her A Great Supporting Character: She is the one to tell Casshern of the horrible things he's done in his past. At first she is very intent on killing Casshern but after meeting Casshern she doubts herself and decides to judge him as he is now rather then what he had done in the past. She sees the good in him and sees how he isn't exactly the monster she originally thought him to be. Eventually she finds herself defending Casshern and supporting him when he is suffers. Giving Casshern more meaning to his existence and eventually allowing him to understand what he must do to return balance to their world. Yayoi Fujisawa, Stellvia Pic Primary Roles: Mature Friend, Gifted student, Mother Figure What Makes Her A Great Supporting Character: She ends up being the mother figure to a number of the cast. The person they look to for support at times. Not necessarily the brains of the group or leader, many times the things she agrees with or supports end up being the right thing to do. Masaru "Dai" Odawara, Stellvia Pic Primary Roles: Aloft Friend, Strangely Knowledgeable, Surprisingly Insightful What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: Although not a genius he was very smart in his own rights. He is a very casual person even in the most non-casual of situations or things like computer hacking and stowing away on the Stellvia. He has surprising leadership qualities and always seems to be thinking beyond what is happening in the present in a "big picture" type of thing but not necessarily in a grandiose fashion. Norman Burg, Big O Pic Primary Roles: Butler, back-up, artillery unit, engineer, maintenance What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: He is a butler, but with military training. He maintains the Big O's general maintenance as well as Roger's meals. Although a kind and caring old man, he a surprising force on the combat end with all of the guns he seems to have and knows how to use and physically fit despite his age. He's like a bad-ass Alfred. Also to make him legit (taken from YonkouShanks post) Jiraiya, Naruto. Pic Primary Roles: Pervert, trainer, Comic relief. What Makes Him A Great Supporting Character: Jiraiya is the perfect character you can fall in love with. he's narutos teacher! and the biggest pervert of the show. He'll use stealth jutsu just to peep at girls for his next "book" but really knows how to fight and comes threw when he is needed. Jiraiya is by far one of the strongest ninjas in the whole naruto universe and was the first choice for this tournament. Sorry TatsuGero23, but while Treize is an interesting character, he was the main villain for awhile, and therefore I think unable to be accepted into the tournament. It's a shame, because he was the only one on your list I wanted to vote for.

I'll support Kittan, Gurren Lagann, I think he stays in the supporting role while still being useful without crossing into main, not counting his crowning moment of awesome.
But I think I'm going to have to vote against Rossiu, Rossiu really didn't do much as a supporting character during the first half and in the second half he was really more of a main character than a supporting. I actually think this is why everyone has been so hesitant to nominate anyone from Gurren Lagann thus far: with such a big team, it's hard to really say if some of the characters come off as too main to be supporting (like Leeron or Rossiu) or not supporting enough to be nominee worthy (like Kittan's sisters), no one seems to be on that line of full-on supporting without falling off to either side to at least some people (I'm sure some people find Kittan to maybe be too close to main, but for me, he's quite possibly the only one who falls just right). For me, Rossiu falls on one side during the first half then the other during the second. |
