I personally agree with TMBounty_Hunter. The show is average. Its not terrible by any means, but I certainly don't think its great either. I like shonen action series in general and I don't find Naruto as addicting as everyone says. I think that it came out during an anime 'dry spell' so everyone latched onto it because its actually decent. That tends to happen when a lot of trash comes out, something decent will and in comparison its amazing. But yeah a fairly average action show, however great AMV material and the GC fighting game is pretty fun too.

I think Naruto is a pretty good shonen action series, but it's still shonen, with all the clichés it entails:

Not to mention the improbable increases in power level. I was especially amused with how Naruto learned in one week a technique that was supposed to take 3 years Rolling Eyes

Yes, exactly what he said. Except that Naruto has much better animation and choregraphy in the battle scenes, which really brings out the ninja cool factor (a.k.a. Real Ultimate Power)

It took Yondaime 3 months.... And he DID have reasons it took less time... But, yes, I agree, after a while the posturing does start to pall a little bit. I still think it's a very good series. Probably one of my top 3.... but I agree, there are a few cliches. On the other hand, it's FAR better than some of the Shonen anime out there.... Actually, it's one of the top 4 in Japan right now, One Piece, Prince of Tennis and Full Metal Alchemist being the other three.... (I forget the exact shakedown in the ratings, but...)
