Under Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (OAV), Magical Girl Pretty Sammy (OAV) should be "spinoff" not "alternate retelling".
Under Magical Girl Pretty Sammy (OAV), Magical Project S (TV) should be "alternate retelling" not "sequel". Magical Girl Pretty Sammy is not an alternate retelling of the original OVA story in the same sense that Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo are, since it's a magical girl series and has a very different main plot. Pretty Sammy is also commonly referred to as a "spinoff" of Tenchi Muyo! Also, Magical Project S does not take place in the same continuity as Pretty Sammy OVA and pretty much starts things all over again with some of the same main characters and story themes, but with a different storyline and different roles for certain characters. It is comparable to how Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo are related to the original Tenchi OVA series. Also, the picture under Magical Project S does not represent the series, because it's the main OVA cast with the OVA character designs. |
