Uniques: 49,400/47,000 is about a 5% increase
Turnstiles: 130,000/128,000 is about a 2% increase So the number of times people went into the con increased less than the number of distinct people attending. That suggest a more casual sort of attendee (perhaps they stopped by while at the X-Games or only came to see Steve Blum or something like that). Incidentally, a 2% growth in turnstiles is much smaller than the 2011/2010 growth of 22%, but that's comparing Mikucon to Lattanziocon. I suspect 2-3% is the sort of growth rate we should expect in general - 2007/2006, 08/07, and 09/08 are all in the 2-3% range. No idea what 2010's actual numbers are, since those numbers can't be trusted (an estimated 46,000 unique as claimed on anime-cons.com would be a 5% growth in uniques vs. a 4% decline in turnstiles). |
