If "'continual and outstanding' contributions to the licensing industry" means buying anime and not only rewriting the stories, but changing the whole focus of shows, then we should all personally congratulate him on his "outstanding" achievements. (That came out more biased than I had intended.)

Haiseikoh: I believe it came out around in the fall of 1998.

the idea that's he's being honored is astounding. i expect they will be getting a lot of angry letters.i'm willing to bet none of these people have ever watched an anime.

at least they're releasing uncensored dvds now.

I deleted all the one liners. I don't care how much you dislike 4Kids or what they do, if you want to express it, express it intelligently.

I can understand from a fan's viewpoint how this is a complete and utter shock, but I guess I can understand how it's also an "achievement," economically or whatever.

Not that I watch or even care about 4Kids's U.S. "productions," but you have to admit, if the original plan was just to make money and get little kids hooked by any means necessary, then it dang near worked to perfection.

Congratulations on making 6 year olds and below your money throwing zombies, I suppose Anime catgrin + sweatdrop.

Oh yeah, and at least they're having a few uncut DVD releases now too, but they've still got a lot of ground to make up if they want to make fans past the 6 and below demographic. Razz

Just because they're giving subpar uncut releases to two of their shows doesn't mean that anything they license is "safe", nor does it justify their business practices. IMO.

I don't think we'll ever see 4Kids pull a FUNimation. :-/

Yeah, this is a major blow to the anime industry. Though he does get commendations for bringing Pokemon, which made people my age hooked on anime. But the worse thing 4kids has done, IMHO is.....

Not releasing Samurai Pizza Cats on DVD. I miss that series so much /_\

Isn't he also the one who said something like "American kids aren't aware of other cultures and thus don't need to see references to Japan (talking about Tokyo Mew Mew (Now Mew Mew Power))

Dude, clam down, 4kids If I'm not mistaking went by another name before actually becoming 4kids entertainment so they wouldn't give it to him if he wasn't in the business for such period of time!

Why would you send hate mail to down someone on something they achieved, I don't want to be a downer but the man deserves it he's work hard for it, and plus if you don't get it that way what way will you get on tv uncut, besides AS which is partly Uncut, so stop! Just like you he's a human begin!

Um, guys...notice that Kahn was not honored with the "Year's best producer of high quality and awesomely unedited anime titles that all anime fans will love" Award. Rather it was more like "licensing products to show off leet marketing skills award." In a sense, yes, he is being HONORED for "brainwashing little kids." Or "bringing in new cultural experiences for little kids (without the culture)." Whatever you wanna call it.

No matter what your opinion is, admit it. He deserved this award...Let's applaud him for it. ^^;

BWAH!HA!HA!HA!ha!ha!

*wipes tears away*

Oh man, did I need a good laugh. Twisted Evil

Well, at least he's following the footsteps of a famous Kahn in history. Instead of raping and pillaging the land, he's raping and pillaging anime. *lol*

It's time for me to go to bed!

It's just a business award, not a "preservation of artistic integrity" award, so don't get yer panties in a bunch.

That was Saban, not 4Kids, and it's unclear if Saban even still has the rights.

Wow, over react much folks? They license and broadcast kid shows, they're being honored for licensing and broadcasting kid shows, something they do better than anyone else. Why is this such a surprise? This isn't some anime distributer of the year award, it's a licensing award, something I think they deserve because no matter how you feel about them no one does it better.

So, congrats to Al Kahn and 4Kids, you folks deserve it as much as anyone.
