So, I was on Wendy Powell's encyclopedia page and I noticed she had two staff credits for commentary. Looking at the special features section of FMA: Brotherhood vol 3 (the one that contains episode 28) on Amazon, it looks like actor commentary is what this credit is referring to.
So are these valid credits or errors? It seems to me that this sort of thing should be on the release page for the specific volume. EDIT: Same thing for the man himself,Vic Mignogna, Maxey Whitehead, Christopher Sabat, and I am sure the list goes on. It's not an error since Commentary is actually a listing under Staff as a position, at least it is for the English Staff. Looking up OreImo and MM!, the only two shows I can name off the top of my head that have Japanese commentaries, they aren't listed under Japanese Staff. However, for MM!, since they were included in Sentai's release, Sam Pinansky is given credit for translating the commentaries, even though the Japanese actors involved aren't credited under Japanese Staff like English actors are. That seems to be oversight.
It is on the release page under description. The descriptions are usually just copy/pastes from TRSI's entry, so if they include it on their site, it's added to the Encyclopedia entry. |

Visions of Escalfowne, FLCL and Planetes all had Japanese actor and/or creator commentary (Escaflowne actually had whole live action segments set in a bar) on the English disks, but none of them are credited. FLCL does have translation credits in the English section though.
It just feels like commentary tracks are an additional performance by the actors (a cast role in my mind), not something that was necessary to complete in order to release the disk to the English market (a staff task in my mind). But at the same time, I'm not advocating that this information be entered as cast, I think it should all stay on the release page. Or maybe in the trivia section. |

Bear in mind that all those credits could be entered by just any user, and (not surprisingly) most of them were submitted by the same guy (sigh).

So, that's a "no" on entering those types of credits, then?

I'd say "no," but not "no-no," as such "credits" are listed by the DVD but not contributing to the production of an anime per se. Thus I'd discourage users adding "Commentary" as a staff task but would not prohibit users doing so -- at least at this moment. |

It's not something I would add, but I wouldn't remove it either.
It is probably something that could be noted elsewhere, e.g. under trivia since that wouldn't require any special programming, or on the release pages (which would). |
