I recently checked animeondvd.com's listing of manga series length, and noticed that the volume 41 of Inu-yasha just came out in Japan. Shocked I can't believe this series is still ongoing and cannot imagine how much longer it could continue. Does anyone read the Japanese tankoubons of Inu-yasha and can give me a general idea if the story seems about to conclude soon or not?

I know Rumiko Takahashi has had series that are 30+ volumes before, (Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura come to mind) but I am almost worried about how long (and how expensive!) this series will take to collect. The only other action series of such ridiculous length I can think of is Jojo's Bizarre Advetures, which was what, 80+ volumes? As much as I love Inu-Yasha, I wonder how it could sustain its merits through such a length.

In last week's Shonen Sunday, Rumiko Takahashi said she wanted the manga to go up to 500 chapters. This week, Shonen Sunday just released I want to say...Chapter 404. It's hard to tell whether or not the series is coming to a close. Takahashi has fooled me twice.

Well, it's good to know that Takahashi has an ending in mind, even if it's another hundred chapters away. ^^ This is the sort of epic series that would take a while to wrap up though, so I suppose I should just be patient.

I hope it's your native langauage because I could hardly read that, but Rumiko has a history of just ending a series (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma ½, Mermaid Forest/Scar) and leaving it for people to make up their own (You know, when people had an imagination.), but I'm sure in a year or two, there will be an OVA or Movie to tie up the loose ends for the anime verison. She stated (2005 edition, Volume 15), if you look up a few post, she is looking to hit the 500 chapater mark. It doesn't mean it'll end at 500 or even reach it, it's just a goal.
