I have a question about clear posters. When I was in Japan this August, I bought a poster of Fullmetal Alchemist, wrapped in clear plastic. I was just got around to putting up some posters in my room the other day, and I opened the plastic, to find out that it was a clear poster. Now, I was planning on just stapling it into my wall (which is soft enough for ordinary staples to go into and hold even big posters up) like all my other posters. However, I'm not sure about this clear poster. I don't want to staple just the clear part up, because some of my crappy wallpaper would show through the clear parts. Should I staple up the backing with it? Would this significantly damage the poster beyond the small little staple holes I have in other posters in my room? Are they meant to be displayed against light, like in a window? (I would think this would fade the colors.)

If anyone knowledgeable in clear posters knows about the display and care of clear posters, I would greatly appreciate help, because searching for information about clear posters on the internet didn't help at all. Thank you!

Well, you could always tape the poster up, but I don't know about the light fading away the colors. I don't think they'll be damaged aside from the small holes if you staple it to anything. Maybe you could tape some large paper to the back and staple both to the wall?

i used these special poster sticker-on-wall things i got from the office supple stores.. no staples or tape! i don't know how good it is, but so far it looks fine..

is the backing really thick? maybe you should cut out a different sheet of paper so it's not that bulky..

No, the backing isn't too thick. Tape won't really work on my walls, because it will too easily come off of the wallpaper for some reason. I guess what I'm really getting at is, is it meant to be displayed with light, or do most people not display it with light?

He's meaning whether or not people put it against a window to let a light shine through them. The clear posters are, well, clear. Imagine a huge pencilboard, only kinda see-through, and that's a clear poster.

Most people just put them against a wall. Putting it on a window will eventually fade it, plus it looks surprisingly bad. I would just use double sided tape (or just some tape along the sides) to keep it stuck to the backing, and then use either double-sided tape or that poster sticky gum stuff to stick it to the wall. Alternatively, you could tape the poster onto a bigger piece of poster board and pin that to your walls. I don't recommend putting pins or staples through clear posters, though it's just because I have an aversion to putting holes in my posters.

Another nice thing to do is to just frame it. You know that Gunslinger Girls tapestry that comes with the box? I put that in a thin silver frame and it looks *really* good. It's surprising how much classier your room will look if you frame a poster rather than just stick it up.

Alright, thanks a lot for the info! I'll be very careful with it then. I didn't think it was the kind of thing that you just stapled up on a wall. For reference, my wall is kinda grainy, so sticky stuff won't stick to it for too long, but I'll probably pin the backing to the wall, then carefully tape the poster onto the backing. Thanks again!
