Hopefully this post won't go the way of my Green Green question, but I really sometimes get bugged by the minute stuff.
I've been watching the OVA Gunbuster2 (Top wo Nerue 2!) and a question has been bothering me. Gunbuster2 is a really great sci-fi adventure OVA with giant robots and elite teenagers to pilot them. The battle scenes are very indepth and the story is engrossing especially in ep 3! The thing that bothers me though is when Nono is discussing being Topless with Lark, she states that she is closser to becoming "Nononigi" (and that's what the sub said as well); does this mean anything? I have been studying Japanese mythology and found that one or two of the deities have 'nigi' as part of their names. Is there any significance there? I searched the forum and google with no results. |

I'm sure Nononigi is what the pilots of the buster machines are called but I might be wrong its been a while since I've seen the past episodes but I think it's right beacause most of the time Nono is saying she wanted to be a buster machine pilot and she uses that word.

OK, I watched episode 4 and although the word used somehow changed to 'Nonoriri', it is apparently what Nono calls a Buster Machine pilot, something she obviously cannot be since her true nature is also shown in this episode.
Thanks crow-kun for not leaving me hangin'!! |
