i know the ratings are bad but that wouldent stop 4kids are they going to release the movies for one piece?

Knowing them, they probably bought the licenses for the movies when they bought the TV series because they assumed that the show would be a HUGE success with the kiddies. Too bad Kahn was wrong (as usual) and the target audience could tell that it was edited (pirates don't drink orange juice for one thing). They'll either release the movies with even more edits or not release them and just sit on the license instead of relinquishing it to some other company (such as FUNimation).

Sort of OT but how long does a license usually last? Is there always a set time period? For example: If it takes a year and a half to release a 24/26 episode series, then about a year later a box set is released, how long after that is the license good? Or is the time period a Company like Funimation has the rights decided when the contracts are written?
I'm re-reading this and I hope that I'm making sense...I really don't think I am  But hopefully someone will be able to answer.

That question was asked in the manga forum and hasn't been answered yet. As One Piece movies, if 4kids has the rights to the movies and releases them, I definetly will not go and put down my money for something I know is going to be horrible. I will not support One Piece while 4Kids has the rights. |

I can't imagine 4kids releasing the movies I've seen 4 and 6 and those were pretty dark especially 6; I can see kids having nightmares from watching movie 6. I even think One Piece is going to be stopped eventually by 4kids because the later episodes aren't really kid friendly by American standards, if anyone has seen the episodes with Enel and the CP9 you will know what I mean.

Ah yes, I know exactly what you mean. I'd like to see 4kids get past CP9's spoiler["permission to kill unhelpful citizens" which includes civilians.]

 my favorite lines from that arc:

Yeah, they'll probably be like, "We're not showing this because it'll provoke friends to start fighting," or some other crap. I've had enough of Kahn Piece. Someone make it stop. |

Well after seeing movie 6 i know 4kids wonr be bringing that movie over has a dark story and pretty intense fights.

I hope not! That'd be horrible! It's enough to ruin of the one of the best anime series, but to ruin the movies is going overboard...well, ruining the anime is overboard, they are both cruel! I hope 4kids sells the One Piece license to a company like FUNimation so i know it'll be in good hands
 But that probaly won't happen anytime soon

there has been talk of them giving it up after the arabasta arc since they have no info givin up after that and the later arcs they cant cut out a whole lot of stuff and we know they wont even mention the name god in the skypia arc.

Not to mention it's ridiculously ugly.
By the way: God = King. It's an easy and obvious replacement, and if they do get to Skypiea, that's my guess on what they'll do. "God" is just a figurehead label anyway. Since One Piece is a Toonami exclusive now, I want to see them attempt Skypiea, to see if 4Kids can possibly recognize their audience correctly and create a decent edited version. It's nearly impossible, but even if they continue with their current editing standards, it doesn't even matter, since we're not getting any kind of servicable home video release, and 4Kids has the license for a few more years anyway. Might as well see what they can pull out of their asses. |

I don't think you should say it was ugly it was just not what you were used to. The style was more fluid than the other movies. Which made it more unique.
I don't know what you are talking about. Have you seen those episodes or read the manga? Enel in no way thought he was a king, in his mind he was God and everyone viewed him as one.
Weather it's on Toonami or not doesn't mean much, and 4kids will never create a decent edited version. Old retarded dogs can't learn new tricks. |
