I recently finished watching the entire Love Hina series, minus the two specials, and I noticed that the 25 episode started another story line even though the original story ended at episode 24. Did they start another season but never contiued after episode 25? The series just cuts off after 25 and opens alot of different story lines.

Would anyone have an answer to this question?

I wouldn't say that Episode 24 really concludes anything, but I guess Episode 25 coming out with something completely random and different may be kind of confusing. From what I know, Episode 25 never aired on television, but was included in the final DVD. It is still taken from the manga (so it isn't an anime original) but was, I believe, just a random story segment taken from the manga, and not a direct continuation of Episode 24. I wouldn't say it starts a new "storyline," just a bit of extra added fun. If you want to see what happens after Episode 25, you can pick up the manga, as that storyline is continued somewhat.

AFAIK, there was a second season planned, but it was cancelled, so Episode 25 was supposed to be the start of the new season. It's really a shame, as there was a lot of great manga material in the last 7 volumes that had to be greatly compressed into the specials/OVAs or eliminated entirely. Vols. 13-14 continue the story after Love Hina Again and provide a true conclusion.

That is a shame. I've always considered love hina to be the best of those "romantic comedy" genre. However I suppose it is because it was one of the first that I had watched.

Well I understand that series get cancled all the time but it seems odd that after a successful season and after the making of another episode with more to come that it would be out right abandonded. Would anyone know why that is was cancled, budget cut...loss of interest.... or anything like that?

It had to be the OP music! Very Happy I mean yeah I listened to each OP instead of skipping over it, but that way lies the Dark Side young Jedi! Somewhere, sometime when I least expect it, that song will pop in my head, AND NEVER LEAVE!!! Evil or Very Mad

It's not as bad as that Lynn Minmay "We will win" song from Robotech. Jeez, a decade after seeing that I can be talking to my old college roomate on the phone and hum a couple of bars from that and he'll let out a scream of primal agony. Because it'll be stuck in his head for a WEEK now. Twisted Evil

Dude, "Sakura Saku" was the song that got me into J-POP in the first place. But if you want a cooler version, I suggest the DJ Jinnai remix.

But yeah it sucks that they cancelled the second season. From what I heard the reason was that they ran out of money after episode 25; and TV Tokyo didn't want to spend any more money on it.

I don't necessarily think episode 25 was meant to start another season, I almost felt like it was gift to fans, since the fact that episode last couple of episodes were much more serious, and instead of leaving it at that, it went back to where I think the series shines, in a more light-hearted 'stand alone' type episode to wrap up the television series.

i dont know, it pretty much ending the way i thought it would. once the main plot of the series was resolved, that's pretty much it for the show. if they made another season this it would just ruin the show.

Not really, actually. The manga continues for many volumes after the end of the anime series, and it's able to continue it's quirkiness and feel. Granted, Love Hina is one of the few harem series which can survive after the main character actually "chooses" a girl. With a greater focus on comedy and craziness than other harem series, it is able to continue what it had been doing the whole time without letting the fact that the main character has already "chosen" deter from it.

I understand where you're going though. In most harem shows, they would have no choice but to pull a Shuffle!-like angstfest after the main character has "chosen."
