It has come to my attention that it's common for an anime, regardless of the genre, to have at least one token episode that tries to make you cry. (Often succeeding...)
And like I said this is regardless of whether it's action, drama or comedy. For example: *************SPOILER WARNING**************** Fullmetal Alchemist (Action/Drama) spoiler[Episode 25, when Lt.Col Hughes is killed. Listening to his little daughter Elysia at the funeral, and then seeing Major Armstrong break down... I almost lost it myself.] Love Hina (Comedy/Romance) spoiler[Episode 20 (the one with Moe) - No one dies, but when Moe becomes inanimate again, after Keitaro fullfills his great granfathers promise to her... Wow, very moving.] Negima (Comedy/Fantasy) spoiler[Episode 23 (I think?) When Asuna dies? ] or Kare Kano (Comedy/Drama) spoiler[(not sure the ep #, 17 maybe?) when Yukino's father is telling his story of growing up, being raised by his grandfather? Who of course dies at the end of the story, much to her father's regret because "I took to long to become an adult, and now it's too late to do all the things I wanted to to repay him, so he wouldn't have to worry anymore." Just thinking about that line still gets me.] So what I want to know is - What are your favorite "dramatic twists" or "trajic moments" or just plain "tear jerkers"? I'm particularly interested in hearing about the ones that come from Anime that otherwise doesn't take itself very seriously. Yeah, yeah. Better now? Sorry about that - newbie/rookie mistake. The other forums I've been on don't have that, and that WAS my first post. Handy feature though.
(And I saw about five seconds AFTER submitting, that the subject was already covered. Not my night I guess!) |
