I swear I would kill to have series like Samurai Champloo and Witch Hunter Robin avalible in the UK as a box set as opposed to having them sold seperate on seven disks for £20 each. These kind of box sets have been avalible for ages in America and are just beggining to trickle into UK with the likes of Serial Experiments Lain being released.

Anyone know if this will become a growing trend in the UK? So far the two or three box sets I have seen released are of series I have no interest in watching.

I suppose the more that people buy them the more that companies will think it worth their while. It will all be down to old supply and demand...

I don't know where else has an anime market similar to the UK (I know places like France and Germany have massive anime markets compared to us,) so I can't think of any good comparisons. I know that we are comparatively small fry compared to the US market and also there is a smaller amount of anime on UK TV also reducing its mass appeal. £140 for the whole of Samurai Champloo is pretty painful. (You'd want to watch it more than once to get your moneys worth Wink)

Other option is importing R1 from the states, but that has its own pitfalls, (postage costs and customs charges...) well, at least manga isn't so bad over here...

Well to be honest with you were just getting the WHR thin-pack tomorrow.....as for the boxsets...I am not sure why WHR's boxset isn't available but you can buy the individuals volumes for nearly the same price....as for Samurai Champloo....fairly new series I am surprised it got a boxset so quickly must be Geneon wanting to strike when the irons still hot....don't forget that your licensor ultimately controls the product and how you get it....so email them.
